basically frogster paid for the rights to release the game in Europe, and Enmasse paid to release it in the US.
It goes back to the age old motto keep the US seperate from the rest of the world so we can charge them 10X what we charge anyone else in the world for the same or worst product or service...
To illustrate my point just had a friend come home that was in Afganistan for the last 6 years, I was along for his first trip to the grocery store and his total and complete outrage at how much more we pay for American made products, than enemies of the US do for the exact same American made product overseas.
His huge rant standing right there in the middle of the store was how American companies are so determined to F their own people over, and how they can ship a bottle of asprin overseas and charge $ .30 for it, but right here where it's made its $6.95.

You're kidding right? You do know that most games/subs etc are more expensive in Europe than the US given the 1$ = 1 € idiocy.
And that's not taking into account publishers just jacking up the prices randomly here in Europe (google Steam... plenty of rage about this)
But back on topic, it's all about licensing/publishing agreements.
From.Singapore, most of them would be asleep when I log in. Have always play with Australia and newzeland. Now the rest of south east Asia can only watch it on you tube T.T And I don't wana pay extra for those bypass poroxy stuff.
Majority of the mmos regardless its AAA or f2p have open servers since the birth of the MMO genre. And now En Masse is trying to be special? Obviously, En Masse thinks Tera will be so awesome and so successful that the Asia market is too small and not worth the hassle for that tiny profit.
Why go out of the way to shaft money into their pocket? Dont waste money on bypassing the block. Connection will suck anyway. Just look for another game. Guild Wars 2 is launching soon after Tera.
Tera has long lost the hype and many followers have already written off this game. I will have a good laugh when US Tera fails like every region it as launched.

Same reason other games do it. to try cut down the number of gold farmers from Asia

You can play the Europe version unless you are from Russia.

Was funny, scary, and sad all at the same time.
