Can you think of any from EU though ...

I know they're not MMORPG publisher and tend to be criticized, but would Codemasters/Ubisoft be able to publish TERA?
At least they're big companies with lots of funding.

Ubisoft seems possible. They're already handling the physical distribution of EU-TERA.

Man, I feel sorry for the EU players - Frogster and now Ubisoft. Bleh, Wonder if Ubisoft will try to enforce a 3 install limit on the game.

    BOOYAKA!

Oh well, back to my books.

Happy that it happened now and not on launch time.

Don't forget that it's only a sneak peek! personally i never got my hopes up.

Have fun and see you in game when it is official.

You never had your hopes up that the sneak peak would actually happen and you would get to play?

wow, you have depressingly low expectations :P

The real issue here is not the thing that it was expected to be flawed but rather the thing that it never happened.

Sure, delay, lagging, disconnecting and the bunch were ''mandatory''.

But not this. They basically admitted they were not competent enough to pull it through onto the next day and had to cancel the whole thing.

Have to say, so far, Game Forge are doing a great job with Aion and it's beta.

They have great visible and pleasent CS and GMs, invited folk in waves to gradually build up numbers, allowed the client to be DLed well ahead of time, and have enforced language rules and decent behaviour in global for the beta.

And they are a Frogster owned company.

Maybe the wrong department got hold of Tera.

Actually, I think it's opposite: Gameforge owns a majority stake in Frogster as of 2010.

oh really? Didn't know that. GF needs to have some serious words with Frogster then.

Yeah, if I remember right I think they left Frogster well-enough alone after buying a majority share of the stock, but after Eligium and Tera, I wouldn't be surprised if Gameforge eventually cleans house by replacing the board of directors with their own hand-picked people. We'll see.

Just got home after being out all day, wasn't expecting to be able to play Tera and sadly I wasn't pleasently surprised :(.

    Oh well.

Lets hope closed beta weekends will go as planed.

I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.

Well...let’s hope en mass know what they are doing, if Frogster continue to screw up (deliberately or otherwise) over the betas, I will write off the pre-order and try the US servers, though I doubt the connection will be good enough.

Some people from US play the korean version and get like 200ms ping. EU to US should be good...but who knows.

  • PsychoPigeonPsychoPigeon Member UncommonPosts: 565

I played from the EU in the last test and got a 200 ping, just do a ping test to Seattle. I hope they have east coast servers...

  • zevni78zevni78 Member UncommonPosts: 1,146

Yes, its the not knowing that gets you down, I've all but given up hope for TERA, even if the US servers work out, they still may be shut down, and if GW2's release date is announced before TERA launches I can see many just waiting for that. It hard to justify the risk of commiting to a game with lawyers trying the kill the game on one end and Frogster's obvious agenda to corrupt TERA in their own image on the other.

do you think the tera europe game install will be compatible with the US servers? wouldn't there be something to setup with the En Masse servers ips or something?

  • VesaviusVesavius Member RarePosts: 7,908

It makes me smile that this thread still lives :)

To the very least, the connecting server file will be different since they are run by different company. Unless you already downloaded the EU version and want to check out the US version with the same client, I dont know why it matters.

Since they are run by two companies though, I am guessing there might be more differences.

yes in fact i already have the EU client downloaded and if i could skip the hassle of downloading it again with my not so great connection i would definitly like it. I'll search more later and post for thoses interested if i can find anything.

What I would try is to copy paste the largest TERA data folder (see pic below) over to a new location where the NA-TERA would be downloading to.

    Steps.

    • When possible, start downloading the NA-TERA client.

    • Stop it/close down the downloader.

    • Go into your EU TERA folder.

    • Copy paste the Art_Data folder to the NA-TERA folder.

    • Resume download and check to see if everything goes well.

that's what i'll try, however i cant help but think the launcher is not as well thought as the wow launcher for exemple. Any with proper back up there will be no harm trying (US download will only be available a couple of days before the CBT btw).
