Yeah weird. It's like this for every mmo game so far. They should really go for a timed approach, different logon time for smaller groups of people. Where they mail you the time you can start.

this is really a good point:

Tera gives away keys.. they should know the numbers and be prepared for it..

If you pre-order the game you get acces to all the upcoming Beta's :) It is a commercial stunt ofcourse, but who cares ? just 5 dollars to get acces to all the beta's is no problem for me.

    I have pre-ordered but didn't get a key.

This is a diffrent event. Real beta starts on the 10th.

Lol. Site totally hammered down and cannot even connect to login servers.

    Ahwell.

  • BenjolaBenjola Member UncommonPosts: 843

    Comon don't confuse the dude.

The pre-order key is different from the Sneek-peak key.

To play this weekend you needed to get a special key from gaming sites (german mostly).

I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.

Well, the protocol requires an active account and then add the sneak peek key, so they should know how many to expect in the first place...

Had they organized a time slot and let people in via email notification, batch by batch; then it would have saved us time and their embarrassment.

Not a good look when a promotion event crashes... should perform their stress test later during CB.

I dont mind having to wait, no big deal at all. Especially for a free event.

I often wonder myself how can the servers be overloaded when they know exactly how many keys they released, knew the exact time people would try and log in, ect.

Seems like they would plan for this type of thing lol.

Oh well, its unfortunatly to be expected I guess.

On a side note... why do I get the impression that everyone telling others to go away for an hour is sitting there hammering the play button while they type...

    Shhhhh! Hush you!

Well I guess this is what betas are for. Testing for things like this.

No.... This is not what betas are for. A good company would use the beta to try and get in more players. ANet made a statement about, I think they said that people treat beta as a demo, yes, people don't treat beta as a beta.

Beta have always been about testing but people treat them as a free demo. Closed Betas are mostly testing and open beta is when they show the game off to get players. This is why games have Beta Phases.  Nobody is going to release a mmo with out some kind of testing to see how their servers handle the players. Arena Net is only stating what people already know.

    It's about the attitude sire.

This isnt a beta though, its a 'sneak peek'  given out to a limited number of people and for a fairly limited timeframe. If it was an open invite 'stress test' then people would probably be more understanding about log in issues.

Perhaps that would explain why they are having overloaded servers haha.

Good idea. I hadn't. But, it still wasn't there. Oh well, I only preordered yesterday - maybe they are just slow getting back to me.

    Hello everyone,

let's start with the good news. If you pre-order TERA and redeem your key, you'll also get access to the sneak peek event this weekend!

Ubisoft is also working together with retail partners, when it comes to pre-order keys and updating different retailers.

For example TERA is already listed with details about pre-order at Amazon.de. Other retail shops will follow of course.

If you have any issues with the client download, account management system or your key, please get in contact with our support: http://tera-europe.com/en/support

    Thanks!

Well, that might explain the server load I guess.

That or this Frogster company is made of amateur nooblets.

    Who owns the EU servers?

Does not matter is this is beta or not. This is not the release of the game where people have paid money to play it. Stuff like this happens and anybody thats been playing mmos for some time knows stuff like this happens. Its silly to be upset because you cant login to play the game for free at the exact time they said the servers will be up for a test.
