these " true action combat " on their website , i personally have not had a single clue on how does that mean ? Would anyone care to elaborate on that ?
I youtube'd their gameplay and still saw bunch of skills on the quickslot bar , which made me wonder, how can u get an 'active' playstyle when there are tons of skills to press ? Maybe i was expecting a DCU online 's gameplay type , which uses combo and very limited range of skills ( u can only get to use 6 skills) ,but by far , DCU online is the closest thing i've ever agreed on with 'true action combat gamestyle' . Or maybe is it a more of Guild wars2 's combat style ?

youtube would help greatly.
Its like Devil may cry, or God of War.
One of those style games.... only an MMORPG.
Left click is your main attack, you can move out of the way of attacks.. Right click is dodge for melee classes or at least one slayer class as thats the only one i played. You then have a skill bar with special skills that you press a number to activate, you also have to aim these skills.
Now DC combat does not feel quite as good as the combat in Tera, plus in DC you erally need to lock on your target to hit properally, this is not the case with tera..
What it really means is that will require skill to play this game. If you like gear wins all this is not the game for you.
Mouseclicks are your basic attacks, which can also combo and you can make combo chains so when you set off a certain skill you can hit spacebar to chain it and set it off quicker
All monsters have hitboxes, same with players, so if you swing your sword and it hits 5 monsters, you damage 5 monsters.
Collision detection is also present, so you can't run through another player and Berzerker/Lancers can block whatever makes contact with their shields when you use the block skill.
Lastly, you can dodge attacks and spells, some classes have set dodges and other you can just move out of the way.
So mouseclicks for basic attack, hotkeys for skills/dodges, and spacebar to set of a chain. Go ahead, eat your tab key.
it is fun and definately a fresh feel from most Tab targeting mmos. the aiming is not incredibly hard and the margin for error is quite large so even if your cross hairs is only touching your target you still get a hit. it's still very engaiging and "busy" but it's not fluid like WoW's combat, since they use skill animations as global cooldown.
this is not too bad with classes that are fast like Warriors, Slayer, Archers but with the Barserker and Lancer you can definately feel the "stuck in animation". melee classes feel very much like Soul Calibur game style.
it definately feels a lot like Aion did when it first launched before they optimized the skill animation to make it feel a lot smoother in combination with movement.
From what I read there are also skill chains like Aion that can be activated in sequence by your spacebar. Additionally you cam created your own "macro" of chained abilities.
This combat system sounds fantastic and I can't wait to try it out.
Just not worth my time anymore.
love it
Been playing Darkfall since Feb 09 as its the only good fully aim bassed action MMO out as far as I know.
Looking forward to TERA
HATE TAB TARGET GAMES< so 1990's, or for old people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope, it's like DDO or Fallen Earth's combat. Reticle-based.

Oh, there is a Soul Calibur character that is much slower than the rest of the cast. What weapon did he use again? Oh, yeah, a gigantic axe.
Wow...just....wow o.o
Thats almost like saying the following in smash brothers :
"Its not too bad with characters that are fast like Fox, Sheik, and Marth but with Bowser and Gannondorf you can definitely feel the "stuck in animation".
