TERA's combat system weakness - Latency?

i was just wondering , i think TERA's targeting system can make the game unplayable for people with 100ms+ latency,

since you dont select a target and then just attack, u have to aim at the target constantly and with less than perfect latency it would seem really hard to do (PvP Wise where target is constantly moving).

TERA looks like an awesome game especially because of the open world pvp system which i really missed since old lineage2 days, but i play at latency of 100-300 due to various reasons ,

in your opinion is it still possible for players with medium range latency to play the game ?

Played the STRESS TEST yesterday on the EU servers GMs were on purpose oading the servers to the max and indeed, latency (server lag in this case) made combad kinda impossible.

I also have to note that I (EU citizen) wanted to play TERA on the US servers, but after the tests this week, I'm 100% sure to stick to the EU servers because of the latency I'll have with the US...

The game is slightly harder with a high latency, anything over 150ms is very noticeable. PvP is impossible though, PvE you can make do, because you can anticipate the mobs behaviour but in PvP the simple unknown means that you can be dead before you realise it.

  • Did Darkfall suffer from this because it its first person game mechanics? Never played it so I'm wondering if there was ever an issue involving latency there too.

I've played a lot of darksouls that has some similar combat concepts to it, and latency was indeed an issue sometimes. Especially when you were pvping someone from Japan or something. Which happened often enough considering server placement was completely random. Though just about every American I played with or against, in pvp, there was no issue with latency.

Yes PVP becomes hard, PVE not so much... I was able to play just fine on the korean servers from Sweden and even in PVP it worked but it was hard. Id recommend that you stick to your region though.
