Not a fan of Sony

Some times I think they SONY or someone at SONY tried to kill VG  for Eq2, I realy do not like Eq2 but neverthless Sony is getting better.  From the PS3 to the new Sony pc game launchers, Sony slowly seems to be turning the corner.  Wil it stay who knows but in the meantime I really like the changes I see and the direction of bringing their PC platforms to the same standard of their gem the PS3, their new e-books are pretty hawt with biggger screes and truth be told I prefer the walkman of today over the ipod due to the open plattofrm and non exsisiten DRM controls, if you can play it you can put it on a walkman oh well

    Me neither.

Then again I'm not fan of Microsoft, EA, Blizzard, ... etc either.

I *was* fan of Bioware (damn you EA), I *was* fan of Troika Games (R.I.P.), I am fan of Obsidian Entertainment and I kind of still like Bethesda (though Steamworks is not going to be tolerated).

Game companies that one can really like are kind of rare.

Only dev I love is Bethesda. Im sure if Bethesda made an mmo EA or SOE would get thier hands on it and run it into the ground.

A lot of people feel that way or felt that way.

To be honest if Sony had wanted to kill VG all they had to do was not front the money to reaquire the rights to the game from Microsoft... then it would have gone to the same grave as all those other MMO's they cancelled.   Like Mythica... I believe was one of them that they dropped after Mythic filed a lawsuit.

If it'd went "extinct" such a large title would've been picked up by one of the other vulture companies, (See:Frogster, Gpotato, G1, whatever) and probably pulled more away from EQ2.

$0E is, and has been for a long time - a HORRIBLE company, EQ2 has some good developers, though. (It's a pretty good MMO, one of the best out now to be honest, just it's parent company and engine are so, so, so, so bad...)

Im liking sony lately too, they seem to be upping their quality and service level.

Last week I actually had a really good experience with their support team with an issue I was having on the ps3.

You know i think they are the darkhorse developer right now but they may make a bigger splash with eqnext and planetside 2 than folks give them credit for.

Of course, if there was a mistake to make it seemes SOE has made it... that said, perhaps they have learned...

( certainly see other companies making the same ones SOE did early )

If SoE really wanted to kill VG they wouldnt have spent nearly two years fixing it up.

But yes, SoE is certainly getting better.  The f2p transitions for both EQ2 and EQ1 are noteable.  For EQ2, they laid at the rules, and people started complaining about various things.  Even though they certainly didnt have to, SoE addressed the major concerns and granted existing customers some grandfathered characters and character slots for the f2p conversion.

EQ1 there was a coding issue that affect their RaF program, and they riginally sad the f2p would kill it.  CUstomers complained (rightfully so this time), and they went back and made it work so that the RaF links would stay.  Now it was very poor planning on their fault for the EQ1 case, but at least they made it right.  And they even did one better, as most people were happy if the link dropped when one of the accounts lapsed off a sub, but they made it so the lapse would just break the link temporarily.  So people can use f2p for their alt/box account, then just sub when they want the exp bonus again.  The way people asking would have been more moeny for SoE but they went the customer friendly route.

That said, there is still a horrendous structure somewhere at either SoE or SCEI.  Communication continues to be an issue.
