Not really an MMO but overlook all the time and most do not know about it at all.

www.simcountry.com - Broswer Empire building game with a real economy.  Your are the president of your own country and have to build it up.  You do not have to go to war ever against other players if you do not want to or you can wage war against everyone.

My additions would be Ryzom and Istaria probably. I wish there was a game like Dransik that was both fun and had a decent population, but there isn't.

    Illarion

Its very MUD-ish, actually the first MMORPG i ever played. Very old (1997) but still active.

I remember the good old times where i chopped 400 trees for wood to get a full set of steel armor from a smith, can't remember how many times my axe broke.

Its definitely the RPG if you want to have a RP-heavy game with a lot of the dice-rolling hidden (no dmg or combat log, skills display only color-coded from red-bad to green-good)

It might be nostalgia, but it was really fun at the time.

Vendetta-O is a gem.  Very cool dev team, too.

Chronicles of Spellborn, although some might disagree. I thought it was an awesome game that suffered from a lack of promotion and therefore had a low population. Had some of the best quests I have ever done.

Not sure exactly what counts as overlooked but I would mention Neocron and Vanguard. I would count Minecraft too since I play on a server with 400 people on most of the time.
