I was just as muched turned off to the game from that chipmunk class as this one. I think its more of a maturity thing with me than a tolerance issue. On the surface ,the game seems to be targeting 8-12 year olds.
Agreed. To show indignation for clothes of such silly class is immature and if I may say so .. a little weird.
I think that people have a tendency to impress upon their children what they themselves feel is most important. So many women/mothers are fixated upon beauty, and being perfect visually, that they dress their children up and put them into contests hoping that their child might be the most stunning.
I personally don't feel that this is right, but I do have to look at it in the same tone as my own perception. I want my daughter to know the value of work, and to see the fundamentals of how things work. I want her to be able to build things, and fix things. I want her to be able to take something that is less and make it more, and I want her to be the best at it. I personally think I'm sharing a better ideal, but am I really so different?
When it comes to TERA and the Elin, I would have little interest in having one as a character, and my initial thought is that it would be a character that a girl might like to play. I didn't see the sexualization that many claim, as an exposed tummy and bikini shorts isn't uncommon, but then I've never watched any videos so I don't know about their emotes and behavior. And if there was something that should have been more conservative, I would hope it would be the mannerisms.
That being said, I am still against the government and powers that be censoring things, but I appreciate a company making a decision to not offend a majority playerbase. Once again however, if the mannerisms are sexual, then that should be what is removed, the clothing is not as important.

They are both unacceptable in my eyes. The thing is that there are a lot of grey areas when it comes to this particular topic that is why shit like the first picture is allowed, although frowned on by many.
On a personal note, I think that Elin are creepy. I don't particularly mind the stripper outfits that other females wear but I cringe every time I see an Elin. Different cultures aside, there's something not right about a preteen looking character wearing an outfit that barely hides their underwear.
Enmasse spent a long time westernizing the game and in my opinion, they should've either removed the race completely or reworked the armor models to reflect the culture of the western part of the world.
If people found the first acceptable (I mean the general populace, not the few crazy people involved in it), then it wouldn't be a show on TLC. It's like saying hoarding is acceptable. The reason why it's on TV is because it's effing crazy. You pretty much proved everyone's point who was against the kiddypornesque elin.
And the truth is we know why they look like that, it's a cultural thing, a sick sick cultural thing that we do not have to tolerate or accept. Moral relativity does not apply here, there's no diplomatic immunity under the guise of 'oh it's just their funny way over there'.

They should remove this race from the western version, Its disgusting.
So having a child like race some how offends people?..maybe if you dont look at everything sexually you wont have this problem. Americans find it hard to except other culture why else have they been carpet bombing other countries for the last 50 years.

It's called projection bias. People that are the first to accuse someone of something, naturally have a guilty conscious.
The fact that people actually care enough to complain about a character in a video game to be offended by the clothing they wear is just another reason why we shouldn't be surprised that America is going into the toilet. Screw actually issues and problems, we need to add more clothes to our video game characters.
it's not just the fact that it's a child-like race. It's the fact that everything about that race, from skimpy outfits to animations is a bit on the suggestive side, if you catch my drift.
I don't mind the outfits and the animation of other female races, since they are technically adults, but Elin are freaking creepy.

They aren't "preteen", derp. Think it's funny that people keep calling them kids. They aren't kids, there are no bigger Elin. They are just a small female race. Also find it funny that no one in the west cares that these characters they consider "preteen" are fighting huge monsters and getting hurt or even killed? Perfect showing of American mentality. We care more about what a kid wears then the fact of them getting hurt or killed.
It clearly shows that it's a country that cares more about things that dont matter then about things that actually do.
well if you decide to see it sexually then thats your problem.
Next year, Rugratz the MMO. Or perhaps, Sesame Street the super sized sandbox.
Could care less about the offense of something, more about the fact it seems to target less mature audiences.

Whish they just removed it, it just shows total lack of taste. Koreans can have it if they want it, i won't judge them, but definetly not my taste. Let children stay children.

what about all the western mmo's that have little faires, you could apply the same twisted reasoning to them aswell. The only people who get offended by this are people who attach sexuality to video games, and thats even weirder.
