If you aren't going to tell me WHY you think killing is more ok than underclothed girls (why are people calling it pornography now? it obviously isn't) thats fine, but the least you could do is keep it civil.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
So do you think Elin should be out of the game instead then? Cause even with the shorts, nothings really changed. According to you, those same girls, though with shorts are still doing sexual poses and still wearing suggestive clothing and portrayed in a sexual way. Little girls with very sexy legs and theighs and hips; whether clothed are not, is still portrayed. Covering it up with some skin tight shorts makes things 100 times better?
First of all, I asked you first. Second of all, if you don't see the difference between killing "bad people" and monsters in video games and portraying little girls in a sexual manner, I really think that you should sit down a rethink your values.
The word "pornography" does not only mean protrayal of sexual intercourse. Look it up in the dictionary.
So far, your position reminds me of a political debate. I asked you to justify sexual portrayal of little girls and you answer with "well since you support violence, blah, blah."

No, I don't mind having Elin in the game. I would prefer if their armor was changed to be less revealing. On the other hand, completely removing them would also do the trick and would be much easier than creating new art.
But whether they are revealing or not, this race is still quite sexualized no matter how you look at it. So with the argument that these are pre-teen looking girls being sexualized, how is them being "covered up" make it okay all of a sudden?
Add Rift to that list too. The Fey (however its spelled) has those little girls that run around in a T-back lol.
The revealing clothing is a big part of the sexualized image. Remove that and now it's just a preteen girl fighting big monsters, instead of a preteen girl fighting monsters and "accidently" showing her underwear.
Majinash, the same moral code/belief/feeling that tells you animated child porn is bad should also tell you the Ellin situation is bad, but it doesn't somehow.
Why is that?
As for the excessive violence in video games comparasion, check post #174, it probably explains better then anything I can articulate in my bad english.

so yes while there is some F'ed up part of america that think this sort of crap is fine, i would probably suggest MOST americans think this sort of think is just downright sick. but i bet that show would be a megahit in Korea.

Also, if you check all my posts in this thread I never said that I personaly have a problem with Ellin being in game.
I'm against any kind of sexualization of young girls, even animated ones but I think I'll survive if Ellin stays in Tera lol.
I might or might not buy Tera and the Ellin issue will play some part in that decision but that's about it.
What bothers me more is the silly, naive and basically childish excuses posters in this thread make to justify the sexy on Ellin...

As for your 25 year old friend, the difference is that she's a grown woman and in any normal society would not be thought of in the same regard as a child would.

Dude. I showed the video to my wife. The only video games she has played was Peggle and Zuma. She also never watched anime. The very first thing she said when she saw the Elin animations was that they were too provacative and adult-like for a child.
It's not a matter of us viewing it as "sexy." it's the simple fact that the class and the animations were designed to be "sexy."
No the reason was because the majority jumped to the last page and missed the last message or messages of the former last page and then it got burried.
Its a 3D model not a little girl and shes a woman not a little girl yet a random person could view the both the same way so your argument is very weird.
You americans are way to sensitive with some stuff considering you dont have a problem with murder in games. Or you dont have issues with movies such as for example 'Let the right one in', or do you go complain about that one as well just because it brings up the issue or the topic of paedophilia in some form? You dont like toddlers and tiaras so you dont watch it, if you dont like the the appaerance of this thing in TERA then stay away from it.

These are some of those arguments I was talking about.
The first one where you act like some savior of art lol, protecting the 'vision' of the artists or some crap like that is just ..well.. naive.
I understand it though, it's probably age thing, you are prolly young and idealistic atm, don't worry, you'll grow out of it.
The second one is just silly and more of a defence mechanism for you then anything else, a desperate way to justify something that deep inside you know it's wrong.

This people saying that it's just art and just pixels or images, of course a painter could paint preteen nudes in all kinds of erotic and sexual positions and claim it's for the sake of art, but a whole lot of people would still be disgusted or uncomfortable with it. Same with if someone has a collection of nude pictures of kids that aren't his own, I doubt that his surroundings would simply accept an excuse as 'they're just pictures!'.
Just saying. Of course, there's a whole grey area here. Let's be realistic: there's agazillion anime and manga out there picturing preteen and early teen looking characters in all kinds of sexualised or compromising poses that would have attracted the law when these would've been actual kids with those kind of clothes and positions. If all that is accepted in anime and manga, I don't see why it should be a huge thing when it comes to MMORPG's.
Personally I don't really care. Although I think I'd start to feel somewhat uncomfortable when playing with people who without abandon play with kid-looking avatars with as little clothing as he could find, while talking cherishingly and fondly about this scantily clad female preteen avatar of his. I think this would set off a 'gross' alert with me.
Then again, it might be a great method to troll other players like that: first griefing and ganking them, then camping and lying on their corpses to top off the humiliation and raise the emotional turmoil that the ganked player already is going through.Yea i should pick that later part up just to get all the sensitive and frustrated people to go cry.

But in a pornographic cartoon, a little girl is not real either. And hey, you can even use the lore to say that she's actually a 5,000 year old intergalactic alien ninja robot god. But the fact of the matter is that the image is still of a little girl. On the other hand, if you have nothing against cartoon child pornography, that's fine with me. Just don't use your views to belittle us "Americans" because some of us have the moral decency to say that it's not appropriate.

I wonder what an adult Elin would look like since apparently everyone believes they are all children. There are even Elin NPC's with full grown female voicing.
You know, I have an issue with the whole adult Elin lore nonsense. There is a quest, where you have to teleport to an instance and defend an elin girl who is trying to activate a device while waves of monsters attack. Once you're done with the quest, the human quest giver calls the elin girl his friend's or relative's (I don't exactly remember) child.
