Here is MY beef with TERA.
elin Slayers are as powerfull as baraka slayers.
elin slayer have a hit box of about 1/3 of those of a baraka/aman.
PvP players willl ofc roll a elin/racoon to maximise their chances.
This is bullshit. Either cut some of the power of those small races or balance it the other way.
I had this weekend some testing going for this , specificaly for targeting as ranged classes.
Wonder what they will do about it. I know its hardly affecting PvE unless i hear my wifes giggles when she tells me that in this case missing me with heals is next to impossible beeing big like a mountain.

Look at Popori/Elin racials and then look at Baraka/Amani. There's some balance.
Also, the hitboxes are slightly scaled up for Elin/Popori and slightly scaled down for Baraka/Aman, the difference is not much at all.
I'm actually surprised that they didn't go the GW2 route and just give everyone the same hitbox. Really is as simple as that.
@Pivotelite: Do racials really make a difference, because all I know is that the Baraka get some "Oh Sh*t!" button on a 2 hour cooldown.
Well that 2h CD thing doesnt cut it AT ALL. And as far as scaling goes , when did they introduce that? last 20 minutes? becasue my last dissatisfying test was about 1 hour ago. Actualy we had a lil party about this subject and were all like 'wtf?! how is this supposed to work for anyone?'
I've seen posts where they've stated that it's been partially corrected, who knows, I may be dillusional though.
Also, bigger characters have bigger reach with their weapons. That's a slight advantage for them regarding melee. Also the taller classes can't be jumped over and have larger block radius, making it easier to shield targets in PvP if you're a Baraka lancer opposed to a Popori.
Hmm okay i yet have to check that out, been all over the hitbox stuff today. Might need to setup a proper test for weapons reach of a popori lancer vs my baraka.
Last semester at college i had i classmate who played Tera up until august of last year. He played it for almost a year in korea before coming here to study.
He told me the game is dying because pvp was not balanced.
Archer fest. Dont bother playing anything else but archer. is what he told me.
I remember someone said they have addressed many of these balance issues. I'll be trying tera when it hits stores.
= Scent to bed =
Racials do matter and it looks like human and Aman have a small edge as a melee class.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
I've talked to others who say priests are overpowered, or warriors, it's PvP, no matter what in any game people will complain about something.
I'll have to wait until im 58 to see for myself.
You honestly expect a korean dev team to actually make balanced pvp? About all they are able to do is make a boring grind fest and even the pve is usually not balanced at all either. Tera is at its a core just a pve grinder with some pvp tacked on to appeal to the hardc0re pvptards. Pvp without a goal is pointless in my eyes, just like pve raiding is due to no more uses for the gear. Dungeon Fighter Online is an example it has an arena and other than to awaken at lv 48 there is no need to bother with it, its just a lame arena setup. Best endgame I think was dark age of camelot, you raid for gear, then go pvp with it and it had land control, faction wide bonuses based on how much land you control, and a alternate advancement system based off pvp.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!
Most of the time the people who scream "X class is op" usually aren't able to figure out how to beat them, so insted of getting better at the game, they start whining about how the class is overpowered, just cuz they can't own them. Now if a priest is able to survive like 5 on 1 and kill most of them, then It'd be OP in my eyes.

Okay just returned from the test for weapons reach and comparision, we couldnt find any diffrences between a popori Lancers dmg/range to a baraka dmg/range of the lance.
But testing with directional attacks shown that the barkas hit box is about double high and a bit more wide, about 1/3 than the poporis when i comes to hitting with directional attacks.
Another test with archerbuddy shooting us has shown that from the subjective feeling of the archer it was ALOT easier to hit me than my small buddy bear. For this test we just ran zigzag and sideways for a moving target and he did some narrowing shot from left, right and top-down for hit registerd on the toon.
While i agreed that smaller races should have not a hitbox 3 times their size (that would make the fight feel awkward) i also would say there must be some other form of balance i.e. lower power on smaller races.
So those little girls hit as hard as a giant muscular half monster dude?
My gaming blog
that's odd somehow i tough we were complaining mmorpg are too all the same ... now we want all the race to be the same as well ?
In my opinion i feel like there are niche and somewhat good so people can't be the cookie cutter pvp and pve at the same time.
Cookie cutter pve = baraka
cookie cutter pvp = ellin
Or we could you know normalize everything like in wow and then complain everything is too bland in tera once again lol.
i think it's unfair at this point to say the pvp is just tacked on. it's tied in directly to the political system. the goal is to win so you can be the leader of a zone. i dont know how it will exactly work yet. but imo the pvp is not someting that is just simply an afterthought.
I've got the straight edge.
Yup, they are just harder to hit (by players)
