Can you move during skill animations?

SiveriaSiveria Member UncommonPosts: 1,422

Are you able to move during skill animations to like kinda chase the target in pvp? or are you locked in place like most mmo's? Kinda worried about pvp balance of melee vs ranged characters when alot of the melee skills seem to have quite the animation time on them.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

or

B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

    Locked in place, unfortunately.

P.S. Never get hit by a slayer in PvP, it hurts.

You provided somewhat false information due to your lack of knowledge on the matter so obviously is you playing to 22 not enough considering glyphs are at your disposal when you hit 25 (at least was 25 during the korean  version).

I see that you only said 'some skill' meaning that in most other skills, you will be locked into animation. In fact, all skill will be unless you get said glyph. So in effect, my statement is true.

unless you can glyph every skill(highly doubt it) then yes, you will be locked in place for a lot of skills.

Yes if you are stupid enough to not get glyphs, they are like a new version of talent trees and i dont see a reason to not use the points you get. I dont know what skills you can move with exactly because i dont remember all of it, its more than a year ago since i played.

Now go read about glyphs instead of arguing with me.

Not being able to hop around like a Mexican jumping bean while casting is the new thing to bitch about in TERA?
Oh. I need to keep up with the QQ.

Then wait for GW2 or whatever else.

So is it the animations that are freezing people in place? Is it limited to particular classes? The reason I'm asking is because in Aion, as a gladiator, it was nearly impoissible to catch a good ranged dps because every time I used an ability (even an instant cast) I couldn't move.

There is a huge difference between being skill-locked and bunny hopping.  LotRO has skill lock, not on every skill, but on some skills and on some classes more than others.  Skill locks suck.

Some people don't like that.  It's funny to see people get their panties in such a twist when anyone brings out a valid criticism.  This game bills itself for having interesting action packed combat.  Skill roots are the opposite of action packed.

Maybe they should have waited until NC worked out the skill roots.

Always saying bla bla NCSoft this NCSoft that, when there is no proof that this project is L3, as far as we know BHS tried to sell the code of L3 to a jp company but never did and after that they started on TERA.

You think skill locks sucks, I dont. Opinions etc.

Also not all skills are locked in place with the help of glyphs as I've stated now go troll somewhere else.

Yes while in combat you get skill locked, as it sucks at low lvl's but there are ways to get around it.

Glyphs are one way to get around it, some glyphs speed up your movement while casting, but to really enhance this is to stack Crystals!

If you played Aion, crystals are like godstones that really enhance your skills. There is a crystal that gives you a +13% movement/casting speed while in combat, that you can stack on your weapon. It really gets rids of that skill lock.

You can buy basic crystals at the vendor, that will really help in PVP.

Crystals have a chance of breaking when you die though. So take that in mind when you stack them.
