It is a Fantasy MMO, so I play it for some Serious Fun.
Also, TERA's UI is easy to get around it, and has a lot of convenience features, like automatic bag-sorting, and chat bubbles, etc. Yet SWTOR has none of this, not even chat bubbles... from a company which makes Role-Playing Games, go figure...
God this is a welcome feature in any game.
I loved this feature in AIon, didn't notice Tera has it. Something else I noticed in Tera is that it has no junk items, instead every drop is useful for something.
I dont know how people can complain about Popori or Elin(well besides the fact of how many people play them).I think this game has the most versatile character choices and theres one for everyone, even humans manage to look pretty awesome in this game.
Dont you want a game with more versatility, look at rift, that was just sad in terms of characters. It's much better that most people can feel unique, especially with transmog and armor dyeing.
As for the gameplay and combat, like ive said and many others many times, it doesnt take off until level 20 when you get to know your skill, get to know how to chain them and get to use glyphs, crystals help too because they encourage you to get behind or knockdown opponents based on your bonuses.
Regardless, imo I think this is some of the best combat in an MMO for sure and I really enjoyed my time playing and fighting the big elites.
I was surprised to see a gear set saving feature already in the game. If you open your character page and look to the upper right side if the window there are 5 set buttons and a "disk" save button. Tera had an impressive amount of features and polish for a game still 2-1/2 months away.
Yes, I've had a hard time as well deciding what to play before Tera's release. I logged into two games after CBT1 ended and logged out. I might try Vindicus tonight because it's free aim though from video footage there are only a handful of skills to use... So it's like Tera until about level 10 lol. I keed, I keed.

TERA has been released already in Korea. And I do not get the idea that the differences between the Korean version and the Western version are all that big to be honest.

It is far different, the patch this month has changed many many things.
-WoW rogue system added for warriors...
-revised 1-40 content
-shortened flight paths
-dark crevice(large scale monster invasions, require 20 people to close)
-Public quests, more people participate, more rewards
Vindictus, Dragon Nest and C9 have better combat IMO. TERA is like slow mode to me, would rather play Mabinogi 2 when it comes out or PSO 2. Though since I am in the C9 VIP beta, that will hold my attention till then. TERA will grab quite a few peoples attention but it will only hold a very few amount of them. TERA has a huge uphill battle with retention and considering how much people are bashing SWTOR, we will see a much bigger flood of complaints with TERA.
Those games are not real MMOs. Anything instanced cant compare to a open world game.
This poll sucks. I can't take it seriously. Where is the option of yes I played the beta, but I didn't hate or love it? Because that's how I felt about it. It's just another ho hum MMO that still misses what I want in a game yet offers enough to keep my occupied in the first month or 2 to make the box fee worth it.
This^ Same here...
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

From what I understand, TERA is instanced as well, with the channels that are being used. Maybe you mean that it isn't zoned.
To point to the differences, EQ was zoned, but not instanced.
AoC was zoned and instanced.
WoW and LotrO aren't zoned nor instanced, or maybe it's better to say that the dungeons were instanced but the rest of the world of WoW used seamless traveling and you only 'zoned' when traveling between ocntinents, and LotrO only used sporadic instancing, like with overpopulation of Bree, or stepping into a specific location (eg Prancing Pony tavern, dwarven starter dwelling).
The graphics, the animations and the combat are great in TERA. Some other things like the linear quest progression and the boring quests really lower the quality of the game though.
I can't really say if I hate it or love it. Some things I hate, others I love.

I mean instanced to where you go out and its nobody but you and your party in the world. Like Guild Wars and DDO. I think TERA is more zoned type.
I find it hard to get past the silly asian art style with weapons neary six times as big as some characters... also dont get me started on the lancer class OMG..
Still its not a bad game to paly and really a step in the right direction..
Tho I still think AOC is currently the best looking MMORPG out there and I love the low fantasy art style of AOC.
I agree, with the ability to dress down and show tits in that game, AoC is a game its hard to get past to play it.

That's what instancing originally meant.. until some MMO started calling different iterations of the same zones "instances" and now people are always getting it confused.

I dont dislike the game I just dont have any interest in it at all
So thanks for that last option
You must be lost, or just looking for a place to troll. You see, because I dont have any interest in star trek online at all, as such i dont even read the forums.
Why are you reading the tera forums if you dont have any inerterest in tera at all?

I haven't been able to take mmos seriously since vindictus.
Global cooldown tab target combat is so archaic and so crap.
At least mmos of yore were respectable because of things like a free economy, full loot free for all pking and sandbox world, but now it's all just theme park carefully controlled B grade fantasy crap for kids.

Oh wait...
when i saw rifts lack of replayability, i couldnt take it seriously.
when i saw swtors graphics, space, and repeated dialog lines i couldnt take it seriously
when i saw WoW's advertising of chuck norris and mister T, i couldnt take it seriously
and i enjoyed all of them when i played them.
thats a matter of preference. like you said, each to his own
i personaly loved Tera's beta, its asian feel, and xbox 360 controller support with UI.
