I'll be returning when the game goes F2P. This was my first serious MMO. I started when it released. But, I've not played since Luclin. Obviously, a lot has happened since then.
1) Trading used to take place in the East Commons Tunnel, as I recall, until Luclin came out. Then I think it was up in the Bazaar. Where is that done now days?
2) It'll probably be a useless question since I'm sure plenty of people will be returning to see the F2P; but right now, what're good population servers?
3) Do they still have "hell levels?" In case they don't: EQ went thru a period, off and on, where specific levels only gave a fraction of the normal experience.
4) Do you still lose exp when you die? Honestly, this did not bother me.
5) My only major gripe during my stay was waiting on "camped" mobs and areas. Can I assume that it still goes on now? Back then, I got around this by simply coming back later. Or ask myself, "how bad do I really want this item/quest?
This thread isn't just for me. If there are other returning players with questions, please ask. I'm sure I've not thought of everything.
It's not about fighting, it's about balance. It's not about enlightenment, it's about balance. It's not about balance.

1) A zone called The Bazaar, you can access it via Plane of Knowledge
2) That would be the progression servers, but they won't be available to F2P players. So who knows which server most F2Pers will pick off regular servers.
3) Leveling is pretty quick nowadays, there is Hot Zones that change every 3-4 months or so where the exp from mobs are really high, I also think they got rid of the hell levels.
4) Yes, after the first few levels. However, now you can summon your corpse via a corpse summoner in the Lobby for a fee. Usually, you can find clerics roaming in the lobby for a rez too.
5) Well, the notion of camping an area is still there. Usually it's more for exping or farming an old world bosses, epic quests items to an extend. You should have no problem hunting regular quests items. (Depending on how much people will actually return to EQ)
Feel free to ask more, I'll answer the best I can. I am playing on and off.
