It's hard to say but considering people that tried out GW 2 at GC and PAX (including me) and Anet saying all these things in the Manifesto which became true once you play it. I can say that WvW is gonna be amazing.
people forget, that the "brand new car fresh cent " wears off over time. This stuff sounds interesting at first, but soon, people will realize that its the same concept that Rift does with "Instant Adventures"
then that feeling fades off. it happen with Rift, what makes you think it wont happen here? Anet masked the quest well, just like Rift did, but over time, the truth comes out.
How long will players continue to do nothing but public quest?
The Mist sounds pretty awesome, but I will wait until I see more before taking a plunging into the unknown.

because it doesnt have a monthly fee and you can play this while playing anything else?
Which will make this game the mistress and not the ball and chain. TSW, SWTOR, TERA all have subs, so the pressure is on to play and get your money's worth. While GW2 will just be there, for when its time to have some no pressure fun.
haha well speaking only for myself, 50 cents a day has never given me any pressure.
Other companies say, Epic this and Epic that, and then spend millions on CGI to boost it.
So far Anet said, try this, and the players said EPIC this and EPIC that. That's the difference. But today we saw the first hype from Anet, the world PVP. After reading what they have in it, I keep saying that it can't be that good, just can't. right?
Dude, this exactly. All the other MMOs were not looking good anyway, then along came that World PvP blog post, and I couldnt believe it, could it be true!!

I never heard of Instant Adventures (IAs) before checking out this thread. I've never experienced them or seen what different types there are. I think there's some fundamental differences between GW2 and Rift in general which might apply here.
GW2 is a purely cooperative experience with DEs chaining from one to another to keep people together. With the way the game gives you more xp and loot as you help the people around you kill things, you've got a natural incentive to stay together. They say they see ad hoc bands of 5-10 people just go around together and start communicating. With IAs, I don't know for sure, but the descriptions make it seem like you just instantly join a raid for adventure. If people are sticking together and talking, that's going to be more fun, whatever you're doing.
DEs are about context. You can see what is happening and there are consequences on success or failure. Traditional quests have a story but by this point people don't really care so they just complete the objective. That's where SWTOR shines, by returning the story to the quest they can get people more engrossed in it. With IAs, I'd be concerned about the context. Are people just looking at it like a way to instantly queue up for a variable Kill X quest, or are they immersed in what is going on? DEs could potentially be just as boring as regular quests, but if ArenaNet does a good job (riddle contests, arenas, boarding a friendly ship to blast a pirate stronghold) then focusing on the objective is secondary to enjoying the context.
Finally, I think what will help DEs is the lack of endgame. When there is a different type of endgame in a traditional MMO, people begin to resent the leveling like it's just a waste of time before "the real game" begins. With IAs being level 45+ content, I would be concerned they're just another way to grind out those levels. Even if they are max level, you have the problem that they might be just another way to grab one of several tiers of gear. With GW2, yes there will be people who race to the end but you don't have to. Automentoring, no endgame, ability to PVP whenever all mean you don't have to rush or resent your leveling. Not to mention the replayability of adding new ones continuously or that they take place in all 25 zones (and dungeons and WvW) not just two zones like IAs do now. And the personal storyline and minigames and heart objectives and PVP to break it up if you want.
The "new car scent" will wear off eventually for GW2 just like it does for everything, but I think DEs (and the other features of GW2) have the potential to hold people's interest for a good long while.

Obviously, he's not married. 50 cents a day after the wife gets her take is all I can afford.
As an avid GW player I've always planned on buying GW2 since it's still B2P.
Since then, I've become interested also because of the way the game is designed. It seems like a high production game with a vast persistent world that features enough tools, challenges and freedom to explore both by myself or most often with others. That's why I think it'll be a great MMO for me.
Many games don't tell you much because they really don't have much to say. "It's a generic WoW-clone" isn't the best sales pitch. ArenaNet has the advantage that they have some potentially interesting game mechanics to talk about.

Lol, until GW2 is like, "you said you'd leave your WoW for me"
and you have to be like "I can't leave her right now, the children in my guild need me."
and then you buy a nice dress in the shop to make her feel better.
LOL... Guild Wars 2 sounds more like a typical TV soap, than a fantasy Epic.
you have no idea how much I chuckled while typin that .
Face it, Gw2 is that sexy thing you alwasy wanted. Now the question is, do you have what it takes to keep her.
I just hope GW2 isn't as high maintenance as the Wife.
No no no... she's much worse. The wife is more like "Do this or you're shut off!" so you grumble and get ready for the next raid. GW2 will be more like that hot chick in high school that hints at something she wants and a dozen boys are all fighting to get it for her.

The "instant adventures" in Rift get tiresome because they're the same old thing over and over and over again. At first, everyone's all "RIFT!" and charges over there... but after the first dozen or three of them people are like "Rift? Really? I needed to turn in a quest there!"
Dynamic events in GW2... they'll always be something new and different. It could be the classic centaur invasion or it could be "What the heck is this?" as you release some unexpected behemoth to rampage the countryside. With ANet constantly adding (and likely retiring some) events as they go along, you won't have that "same old same old" feeling like you do with yet another rift.
That's a good trick to keep your expectations from blowing a hole through the ozone layer!
Holy Trinity? You mean NO holy trinity... and it's a themepark with sandy elements to it. You're free to leave the rails and flat out explore to your hearts content.

Not to mention the story, the stuff you do in the story has a whole lot of variety, example, the bar fight, arena fight, escorting misson, defending, infiltrating thiefs hide out and ish, ad I'm sure they'll think of some more stuff.

Contextualize/frame the hype eg: GW2 is:
1. Themepark MMO
2. DAOC-inspired WvWvW
3. Tab-target combat - Holy Trinity
4. Evolved quest system -> Dynamic Events
5. De-emphasis on Levels
6. Re-emphasis on Story...
7. etc...
That's a good trick to keep your expectations from blowing a hole through the ozone layer!

these are the things that excite me
Same, but for me, it's bottled excitement for now? ; )
