Hmm i hope they don't have a map showing where people are in WvW. How can you ambush somebody if they know your coming?
I mean if they're actively attacking your team (i.e. causing damage to your players). Plus a small skirmish (5v5) would be the minimum i'd want to appear on the map So small scout parties could go undetected.

Yeap, they said in an interview that the map will show where skirmishes are occuring on the map so players can head in that direction. I'd wager since you can't see enemies on the Competitive PvP map shown in the Battle of Khylo that you won't be able to see enemies on the WvW map either, just skirmish spots.
Inrestng fact, SWTOR had a press event much like this and its embargo was lifted Oct 20th 2011, 2 months later the game was out. Just saying a Developers have to feel comfortable with their product to give such open rain to the press. Anet must feel their game is almost ready for launch. Spit and polish time?

Indeed so, i'd just think it'd be useful to have a heatmap style system for those skirmishes so you know what's a squabble and what's a full blown battle

Indeed! They're progressing at an even quicker pace than they've talked about, I see no reason that a feature complete GW2 isn't less than a few months off. At least, that's what the fans are hoping. Regarding the beta though, I can say with 100% certainty that I would like to be involved. I've already seen enough spoilers on Youtube, a few weekends playing the game would not ruin it for me. It would just make me more excited.
Personally I'm a huge GW2 fan, but I won't play the Beta, I will buy the game anyway. I want to play it fresh the day I have a full day to watch the scenario and see the mobs how they are developed without rushing together with a buttload of people. This is a game I want to stick with for the long run and I'm gonna enjoy every minute of it
Same boat here; Gw2 will be my last mmo..for bad or good, im done with this genre and can only hope gw2 will be my last long waited stop.
The philosophy behind this game is what atracts me more, and I'll only touch the game after the initial boom.

This is not a game.

That is great news, maybe we actually can get the game before summer after all...
