This is the NA beta test and the client is 23.4GB if you're wondering. However I played in Europe and I am from NA and it wasn't much of a problem, even fighting BAMs I didn't seem to have any problems with latency. 23.4 GB? Holy...I don't keep up with how large most (all) all the games I download are, but I don't think I've seen anything THAT big before (that's what she said, har har, I know). Have I not been paying much attention, or is that a fairly HUGE download? *should probably stfu here and go start the download... Heh, SWTOR is 26GB. I purchased so I was able to load locally, but still was 3 DVDs and took a block of time. And even when you finally launch it had to download all the patches and stuff. Planned ahead for this though, new gaming laptop has 2 HDDs (boot SSD + 1TB 7200 RPM HDD just for PC/MMOs) Bring on Guild Wars 2! Now if I could just buy time as easily as I could space.... :-)
Psshhh, just spend that time money on getting me a rig that runs decently :P

Probably 15GB of CGI intro/cutscenes and voices. xD
Couldn't they come up with some better way to compress game data?
I mean I used .arc way back when I had a BBS and that gave way to .zip which was an improvement but since then compression has pretty much stagnated.
One would think they could come up with a very good compression method for the art assets of the games (which is where all of the space goes). At any rate I would think that getting another 50% compression would be doable and be very useful.

I already have signed up, got nothing....you think i just randomly ask for things before trying the obvious way to obtain them?
I thought these were keys others have gotten and were handing out...as to why people were "asking" for them in this thread.....I do not have one, nor any...so i am "asking" here

Conservation always wins.
Between vast vast vast hard drives and skyrocketing connection speeds (especially if Google's Kansas City Project is a sucess...) they just don't give a damn.
I mean Windows 05 fit comfortably on a 400 mb hard drive. Yeah, there's no comparing the two but windows 7 64bit Home is sitting on my computer at 24gb (coincidentally the same size as a few of these games lol), Windows XP recommended having 1.5gb free.
Is 7 so much vastly better than XP that it accounts for more than 16x the size? I'm not seeing it.
It was pretty easy to tell by 98 or 2000/ME that they didn't care about size anymore.

Game is 23 gig zipped dude, they aren't idiots that allow you to download the game uncompressed. Just load the launcher, it will create a folder with install files in a zip format, after you have dowloanded all you need 15 minutes more to uncompress all and create the game folders.
This is key for NA, EU has their beta test on the weekends we don't. No on know exactly where their server is though.
The server is in Chicago.
That is odd. Still only going like 400-500 kb/s (thought it dropped to under 100 over night!) and I'm in Michigan, literally only a few hours from Chicago.

WTF why the slow download rates?
My ISP and speed are significantly faster.
i don't think its in Chicago, its in the west coast some where or else all their times won't be based of pst.

It's probably pretty compressed as is.
make an account and try to get one? i mean its like 3mins to do it ^_^ worth doing that than waiting for a response and key really runs out.
