I'm certain this was mentioned, but come on this is apples and oranges here. I guess for GotY you can see what games are better overall, but ME3 won't even be in the same year as Skyrim so it's moot.

I don't own skyrim and probably won't until it hits the bargain bin.  Not that I don't think I'll like it, but I'm in no rush.

The modding community is very large, and issues that you find in the game might be the same as some other players have found as well, so there may be a mod out there that will fix that issue for you. In other words, by allowing players to mod the game and allowing players to remove the barriers that prevents them from enjoying certain things, it makes it a lot harder for the players to put the game down. So many things to see and try, new mods everyday. One of the first mod that came out for Skyrim (before the Creation Kit was released) was a mod for players afraid of spiders, it replaced all the spiders with other animals (bears mostly). The UI for PC isn't very good (it's more console-friendly) so a modder came up with the SkyUI which remaps the entire UI making it a lot more PC-friendly. Basically, you can really customize the game to your liking and that's why players play for so many hours.

You have mods that are just "for fun" which are made just to make people laugh :

    Macho Dragon Mod

    Zoidberg Crab Mod

There are mods that focus entirely on enhancing the graphics or textures :

ENB Ultra mod (Couldn't find a good comparison video with vanilla textures, but the difference is massive)

    Realistic Water mod

Then there are also mods that focus on adding more contents, tweaking certain things to make them more challenging, etc.

    Midas Magic (new spells)

This video covers a couple of mods. New Kill Moves (+Finisher), ApachiiSkyHair, Dancing Crana Katana, Tribal Might Armor, Master of Death armor, Velvec Outfit armor, Vortai and Neiheleim maps, WARZONE mod, Apocalypse spell.

Note : I got way off-topic, so will bring this backt o ME3 for a minute. Quite frankly, I'm a big proponent of voting with your money. I think what Bioware did with the Day 1 DLC (that was taken out of the actual game mind is) is despicable. I really don't like buying DLCs in the first place actually, especially for games published by EA. Generally it feels like they've really taken out portions of the game to sell it seperatly, and the case with ME3 simply makes it far more obvious. I won't be buying this game at all.

There's this great image that pretty much speaks for itself :

    Apples to oranges.

Skyrim is an open-world RPG focused on player freedom, while Mass Effect is a linear RPG focused on telling a very specific story.

In Skyrim the storyline supplements the world, while in Mass Effect the world supplements the storyline.

Based on the demo, the FOV in Mass Effect 3 sucks...it is the all too common too tight and confined FOV. If there aren't isn't anyway to adjust the FOV when it luanches I will already think of it as the inferior game.

Seriously, what is up with the current trend of games to have awful FOV's especially on the consoles?

Those consoles are already 7 years old. Developers want to produce higher quality games, but for consoles to be able to handle them, they need to cut in some other areas. FOV is one of them.

They may have just been in a slump but with EAs track record of buying up great developers and burying them I don't have high hopes for Bioware's future.

As for ME3 being better than Skyrim... If what I saw in the demo was any indication of what the whole game will be like... Not even close. ME3 will probably be a good game but Skyrim has reached a level of greatness that no game has achieved in like the last ten or so years. I run into people every day at work that I would have never pegged as gamers telling me how much they love Skyrim. Some of these people are people I've known for years and they have never even mentioned gaming to me once but in the last few months every time I see them all they want to talk about is Skyrim.

Skyrim is a game that will go down as a milestone in gaming history. ME3 will just be another game.

Skyrim is what WoW is for mmo's Skyrim is already a milestone in gaming history never have a RPG like this been praised and sold so many copys ever 11million and counting.

It will only become like WoW, if the next 5 or 10 years of  AAA single player RPGs will be Skyrim-clones.

I honestly am not willing to pay more than $20 for this game. I did enjoy 1-2 somewhat but the game just was not that good. It was nothing like what they hyped it  to be with and open Universe....in which you could go anywhere do anhything you wanted. NOTE

Everything you did in the first two games hinged around doing rather boring misssions to open a new area all of which were stale boring enviroments generic . I really don't think game 3  will be any better.

I played game 1-2 (purchased on Steam $20 each) each of shich took me about 20 hours to complete the main story arch. rather sad really.

Xcom Apocalypse (purchased full set on steam for $14) which releast around 1995 was way better and I have spent hundreds of hours playing that game and still play it to this day and really enjoy it.

oh and X3 Terrain Conflict ( Purchased set on Steam for $24)I have about 400 hours in that game
