Will this game have the same Log on crap that GW1 had?

Re installed GW1 after a few months of not playing it, I aways use about 3 passwords and in this games case used my name so I wouldnt forget the whole security thing. Turns out none of my passwords work and the two names that I know for a fact I use all the time do not work either.
Now I really HATE THIS with a passion and is a major turn off for me.
Please tell me this isn't in the game.

Played GW1 as well for a long time, never had a problem with the password system. Have never had to ask for a replacement/reset/whatever they do.
So....you just forgot your password....that...isn't the fault of the game...sorry.
As for why it's nessesary, it might not be. But if extra security like that stops accounts from getting hacked or stolen, i'm all for it.
would MUCH rather be reading *Password system sucks!* than *My account got hacked* threads. Take the bad with the good, as they say

As for the name, it's to stop people being able to hack you via knowing the username and password, it's a fairly simple extra layer of security that works pretty well. If NCSoft servers got hacked, your account wouldn't be in danger as you characters are stored on seperate servers.
I had the same issue.
Contacted a CSR via the live chat and had the problem fixed ~10 minutes later.

Are you referring to the first/last name of an existing character in GW that you need to type for security?
Yes, that was annoying for me having not logged in for a long time and having forgotten the names of my characters there when it was first introduced.
My suggestion is that you post your username and password here....then in the event that you forgot your password we can remind you ^^

But yeah, they introduced it as it simply stops anyone from gaining access to your GW1 account if the NCSoft servers are ever hacked ect. It worked pretty well apparently, I haven't heard of anyone being hacked in a long time.
You can just call them/e-mail them and get it sorted.
Also, if you're struggling to remember a character name, you need to think of better names!

I played GW1 too long time ago and backthen its was only Email and password,
after 5 years not playing , i reinstalled it put my email and password but there was a new system in place i have to remember the first Character name lol
well i did not bother with it i just bought back the game on steam
i could have just send a ticket lol
Never had any problem with Ncsoft customer support either with all the years with lineage 1-2 and aion
i was just lazy

Hehe yea. It all worked out good but took a whole lot of headscratching and searching for a screenshot. And of course turned out that they were mostly the first names I normally use. Gawd I suck at picking last names though.
If you are referring to the character name, you can email them. They usually reply within 1 day sometimes you can get a reply in like 30 min

Once you have used your user account name and character name to login, they stay remembered on your pc, you only need to remember your password. this happened to me but after contacting support because I couldnt remember my character names I was up and running within 30 minutes. Better than having to fork out more dosh to use a pin, which they could of made you do.
that's far too much effort. he's wanting them to implement the psychic password system where the game just knows it's him and ignores the fact he doesn't know his login details.
A long long time ago, there was invented a marvelous system that may help, it uses something called ink & paper, you may find this to be of help, thank you.

That's OK. A few months back I was going to go back to playing GW1 and had trouble remembering my login for it also. So I finally got around that, only to get a message that the account was being blocked because it had been accessed by gold sellers. Well, I gave arenanet all my information they asked for and they still would not unblock my account. When I finally asked them how gold sellers would have gotten my info to begin with, when I don't share my info with anyone, guess what their response was.... nothing.
Oh well. I'll still play GW2 but I better not have any further account issues.
So what do we do with these ancient artifacts? Are they part of the quest?

There is only one password and you need to add one of yout characters name. If you cant remember that, better go to a specialist

I feel your pain. I can log into the account website and change my PW but cannot login becouse I don't remmeber any of my characters names its been so long. Support wants me to take a picture of my cd. So I have to borrow someone's camera, and try to find the orginial cd. I've moved twice since I got that thing. It's in some box somewere maybe the dump for all I know.
Eh I just gave up.
The thing is I can change my account pw all day long but they won't let me in the game...
Actually i agree with the OP. Had the exact same problem when i came back the first time (and pretty much last time as i felt that there were better SP RPGs out there) could not for the life of me remember the name of my characters (and before anyone care to belittle my ability to put two braincells together, i tend to give my characters RP names from time to time... This was one of those instances.) sure support sorted it in the end but it was a bleeding annoying thing to have happen. Ofc if they have this kind of system from the start it will be a non-issue. Or even better get a authenticator system like battle.net or SW:ToR... The best solution in my mind.
