It's perfect as is and is necassary since the game has sticky targeting. It's well balanced with the energy bar and greatly enhances combat. It's very nice that you can also avoid damage via positioning as well. It seems to be a nice hybrid between RPG and action combat.
Wait wait people - so 100 % invulnerability irrespective of dodging direction constitutes a carebear'ish and non-hardcore game mechanism?
Interesting how the self-perceived 'hardcore' people are left with nitpicking in order to differentiate themselves from the mainstream gamers, desperately trying to cling on to their image of being hardcore. You can argue whether dodging should provide different buffs depending on dodging-direction (ala aion). But not hardcore enough and carebear'ish? HAH come on...
Someone once said, "It takes two to tango". I have no idea how that fits into this discussion here but like you, your enemy also have the ability to dodge and as such, it very much so brings into the game a factor of skill. However, for every dodge you risk depleting your stamina bar, so there's no fear of you and your enemy engaging in a dodge-tango.
