Of all possible flaws you could come up with, this one is not it.

You can say the same thing in P2P, F2P and any other model in existence. Seriously OP, just use you head.

Oh lord, now I've seen everything....Not only is GW2 the MMO Messiah to save all gamingdom, but the Anet devs are now apparently asetic monks who aren't developing this game to make money, but are making it out of the goodness of their hearts--sort of like the Ghandis of Gaming then? Let me just give a huge LOL to that one.

he meant that they listen to feedback from their non beta testing community and made changes without being under threat of losing money. no one was talking about not buying the game over potions, for example.

Yes, because this flaw truely showed itself in the first GW...

    oh wait... it didn't...

Unlike other mmorpgs, the gaming community of GW actually trust their developers not to do something stupid and in the past it has worked out great.  Not only that but the flaw isnt a flaw at all, if we dont like it we just stop playing not like we are paying anything anyway!  If anything we just wont buy the next expansion if they do something so extreme.

    lol

Indeed. And to think that only months ago, any mention of TOR on these forums would summon the Troll Armies from the peak of Mount GayLOL like Orcs out of Mordor. Nowadays, it just seems to be a poor joke around here. Can't wait for Guild Wars 2 though; looks like they're the only people who give a damn about the quality of their game these days in the industry.

PS: THe aforementioned F2P shooter that might be better than MW3 could be referenced to be Tribes Ascend. This does look like a pretty awesome game, but it has a rather extensive cash shop, so it might not be the best topic to raise on these forums.

I'm really sick of the whole "There's a massive fanbase for X", or "Y would be a WoW-killer if it just had a chance".

There is no massive conspiracy waiting in the MMO playerbase.

There are no "sleeper-agent fans" waiting to convert once the X or Y is unleashed on the world.

It's B2P. You voice your disdain by not buying it. If you bought it and don't like it, you don't buy the expansions and content that's released at a later date. I thought that was all pretty obvious.

You didn't get my meaning at all.

Heh , In all seriousness , for the millions who enjoyed and still do enjoy GW1 won't care about the B2P model GW2 has to offer.  You got a hundred trolling about pandas in WoW but guess what? Still millions play WoW to this day and enjoy it. This discussion is pretty much ended.

When a game isn't released anything they do is in an effort to make more money. Especially if it's in regard to making changes to please a certain demographic.

B2P model will make lots of cash but it fails in that you will get the F2P morons coming over to play.

GW2 is also gonna fail for the same reasaon all modern mmos fail they are following the WoW ruleset of quest, quest and quest some more.

Give it a week and there will be out of content for a lot of players and after a month there will be no choice but to rerole and do the excact same trhing again.

The only way to have a mmo these days is to go back to some kinda player evolveing game that dont rely on expansions to keep players happy and thats why B2P will fail.

They will make money selling the box+DLCs/expansions like the online fps games plus some $$ from de fluffy CS.

and if DLCs and expansions are not selling something is wrong, like if the subs dropped in a sub MMO

Since when has a developer shifted gear so drasticly in an attempt to save a dying game that it actually worked? As far as i know it has always been the bandaid philosephy. B2P wont be an issue in that reguard.

I do wonder why developers dont put in an in game survey of sorts, however. After being in an area for awile and doing alot of the quests it would be refreshing to take part in a survey thats accessed by a small unassuming icon.

Fitst, a "flaw" if compared to what? We all know that F2P games are actually pay2win especially when it comes to PvP. We all know that sub-based games tend to become grind-based beyond all reasonable limits (just look at Rift).

    I want grind-independent, money-independent, gear-independent PvP. I want fair PvP where everyone's equal. How do I get it in a non-B2P game?

Second, game developers shouldn't listen to players. If players knew enough about game development, they would be game developers themselves. Players don't see the whole picture and most of them don't even care about it. They only care about their own personal (mostly l2p) issues with the game. Well, some players can and will provide valuable feedback with math and possible solutions included. This should be a reason to verify this feedback at least. But... a vote? If Leonardo da Vinci held a vote about how he should paint the Mona Lisa, it wouldn't be in the Louvre now.

MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).
