Like the OP I burnt out on questing games and have been looking for more adventure type games where questing was minimal.....They are very hard to find nowadays as just about every new game follows the WoW pattern of solo questing to max level......Like some of you I played EQ1 until 2005, and to be honest I havent found another game better since..... Once it goes f2p (which is just a few days) I think I'll go back as it should be just what the game needs to get the population up again.
I have been comparing all the games i`ve played to EQ and I really miss it. OMG, the hours camping Lodizal... or the massive PVP battles that would occure when Klandicar would spawn... I miss that...
Read up on my post about Pirates of the Burning Sea... you can actually be power leveled in this game through fleet grinding so you can achieve end game pvp/rvr within a couple of days. However, you will have to solo to learn your skills and class abilities.
Heh , it might be a long shot , but you got Nexus : The kingdom of the winds (used to play it back in the 90's). Now I know the graphics are far from being top of the line , but I still have a few old friends that still play it since release (15 years in the making if not more!!)
It's pretty heavy on mob grinding without the need to quest to advance your levels , once level 99 , you can exchange your EXP points for more HP/MP , as you grind more and more mobs for EXP you can get more HP/MP. There used to be daily PvP events when I used to play. Not sure what's it like today. I've stopped playing since 2003.
Or if you want something a little more RP that looks abit better with the same grinding try Dark Ages , made by the same company as Nexus.
