when SOE shows the game the love it needs (by bringing back fixes and patches) i'll be subbing again in a minute.
But running the game without improving it is a no-GO for me......i wont pay for a game that doesnt get love....i pay a sub for patches and bugfixes, not for server running a program.
This is the same server load as last 5 - 6 months on a normal monday. There's no flux of new blood increasing the server population as it is now
Back in november before skyrim laucned ( november ) the population was higher than i had seen in a while. Our guild was approximately 40 ppl on at peak and 20 24x7 ( we are worldwide guild ). However, as soon as skryim release and then SWOTOR came, it was pretty bad... take those nubmers down to 10 and <10.
I came back in late january to check things out and it was dismall as well...
Now ?
12-15 on 24x7 20-25 at peak and we are adding more people every day.
There are plenty of people to enojoy the group stuff with in vangaurd and even if they don't touch the damn game there is more content in vangaurd than the RIF+SWTOR+ name another recent release combined...
It is a great time to come back, look up Twighlyte Song in game and we will wear you out in dungeons as soon as we get our hands on you lol.
Omw back to telon.. VG has taught me something lately... stop waiting and start playing...
Not that I doubt you had a good experience with the population back in November but that has to be the only month from 2010 - 2012 where it had a significant boost.
Has to be right ? Can't teach people what they don't already know i supose.

Err ... sorry, but you're wrong.
After SWTOR release, in december, these numbers dropped massively. Around 80 people at a monday have been the norm ever since.
Last weekend however suddenly a lot more people have been there. The PU raids I joined have been overrun. And my guild suddenly saw a lot of lowbies too, last week, even if I only realized this in hindsight (was quite busy last week).

I suspect the same will happen when Gw2 comes out. It seems every major title pulls people away at least for a while. Then those same people return once they realize they can't get that same experience elsewhere
I would be excited if SoE hadn't already removed most of the features that made Vanguard good. Now it's just another quest grinding casual game. And no plans of adding in any PvP either. They're doing the EQ route of just keep jacking up the level cap.
But I really hope it comes back. It deserves to be the top PvE MMO.
Anyone else see the irony in post like this? the msot features that made Vanguard good were not good enough to get back enough players and yet we complain there are not enough players and still somehow expect it to be a top PVE MMO.

It is like a vicious circle which never ends.
Features are not the problem.
1. VG has things that other games don't ( depth, yea real depth in the McMMO era go figure ? )
2. VG was a horribly unfinished buggy mess at launch and MMOs do not recover from bad launches.
3. VG is still to this day clunky ( animations and physics wise ) compared to really most modern MMOs so it can "feel old"
4. There are many annoying bugs still in the game you have to work around. Not crashing level, i never crash but there are annoyances.
5. Every AAA release will take population from vanguard temporarily ( even some RPGs - see Skyrim / Amalur )
yet, I am having the most fun in an MMO i have had since, well I don't remember.
Given 1-4 I have as many have been hoping for the next big thing so I can move on from VG, yet realease after release comes ( you know the suspects ) that are just horrible wastes of time .. There is little to no innovation, challenge and NO "exploration factor" at all.
So I finally accepted that and am home and stuck in 2007 and loving it.

For sure. Unless SOE puts reall muscle behind the news/updates they will not compete and win ( on mass ) with new titles.. however I am pretty happy with the way things are right now.
