Aion on the up & up

BookahBookah Member UncommonPosts: 260

Just wanted to let people know I gave Aion another shot this week after seeing their "Rally the troops" event and its been a blast, the east coast server Israphel is packed with people and last night the Asmodian faction even pulled off a 500-600 person abyss raid and capped almost the entire abyss.

So if your board waiting for GW2 come join us on Israphel we have a healthy faction, economy and tons of PVP and 3.0 will bring housing, mounts and new content in and aprill, ohh yeah and its going to be free (As in completely free, monthly subs end with the release of 3.0)

(In fact if you pay for 1 month by the 13th you get a free set of fenris armor:  http://na.aiononline.com/rally-the-troops.

Still a realy awesome lvl 50 armor set)

yup, until people get to end level and see that in order to have all the best gear, and be competitve in pvp, you have to pay. and then it becomes Pay 2 Win.

...stil if you are having fun why stop?

ps: by teh way this doesn't surprised me one bit. Aion is a very well made game and even before going F2P it was one of the best mmos out period. now it's definately a contender for top 3 in the F2P department.

aion was good when it was lunched the issue why people left wasnt because the game wasnt good but because group throttled choke point where you re supposed to move on and player got fed up of this crap couldnt progress.maybe someone else speaking nativly english could explain it please!

Agreed!  I hope their (NC soft's) implementaion of FTP truly is FTP.

I know alot of people are concearned about being competitive in pvp against people who spent over a year gearing up in pvp gear, and I understand and have a sugestion to that end:

Pay the 14$ and get the free fenris armor set (Lvl 50 deva gear) via here: http://na.aiononline.com/rally-the-troops

Choose a strong pvp class for lvl 50 (Gladiator, templar or ranger are my favorites.) put them in the free fenris armor and keep them at lvl 50 so you stay in the B dredgeion bracket (Suicide your character to loose XP and become a perma lvl 50 theres lots of them and it is not against the rules.)

You will be very competitve in B dredge with your free armor and a decent weapon. (Fenris is the best lvl 50 pve armor set!) You will make alot of  AP points to get some gear quickly and have fun doing it.

After the 14$ go Free to play and never spend another dime., good luck Devas!

    You know what?

I mostly enjoyed Aion when I played it.  When I last played, the cap was at 55, and once I got there the real pain started.  No not the same pain as in SWTOR or any other game that doesn't have a real end game.  Aion has one; it’s just the whole allowing people to grind out pvp gear by killing npcs and mobs.  That turned me off.  There was a Team Korea guild on my server and they were all in max gear.  Every single one of them was twinked out.  Why you say? I have no idea.  I can only guess they killed mobs over and over and over again.  Outside of that the other problem was the drop rate.  That damn drop rate was horrible.  Some of the items I was trying to get would never, ever, ever, ever, ever drop.  I forget the name of the instance that was real tough but we would go through there and either get crap drops, no drops, or one person might get one.

A game is not supposed to be frustrating especially if you’re paying for it right?

I think a fellow adult can say yes quite easily.  Either way, if it’s going "Free to Pay" as I call it.  It might work out.  Depending on the cost if you can buy gear that will put you on par with those mob killing, no job having, friend swapping account bastages, then it might be worth it.  Either way, I downloaded the game again but just lack the motivation to reinstall it and try again.

I think the cap was raised which means I’d be faced with grinding yet again. (Frustration)

Still knowing that in pvp I'll be facing those in full pvp gear against my good set but not up to par. (Frustration)

On top of all of that, I’d have to start all over again.  Getting a guild and another journey trying to get items that would never drop for me before when I played.  (Frustration)

Nah, I think I'm about to delete that Aion package that I have in my download folder.  I just reminded myself why playing again might be a bad idea.  I'll keep my eyes on GW2 and just wait.   image

My wife and I actually got into Aion a bit ago, but I convinced her that it wasn't worth the subscription fee because of the state of the game. The NA version was dying and I just didn't feel it was worth a monthly subscription at that point. If it goes F2P in NA, We will most certainly be playing it and i'm sure she will be excited to hear that it is F2P.  So I'm waiting for the F2P version.

People left because of the botting and the flying element wasn't implemented particularly well.

My wife and I quit around 25 when it turned in to a massive grind of mobs with only daily quests each day to do. Before that we loved the game and it was nice to have challange again in pve. We will return and check it out again when it goes ftp.

I've seen people make this argument before, and I still don't understand it. Can you explain?

I prefer PvP to be on even ground (in terms of hit points, damage, etc.) which is why I generally do not like PvP in MMOs that much. But if one character has an advantage over another, I don't understand why it would make a difference how they got that advantage.

Okay, so let's say you're playing some PvP MMO and you're fantastic at it. You've memorized all the class-vs-class matchups for 1v1 fights, you understand all the math in the game and you've theorycrafted a perfect build, you know what what to do to counter every common strategy, etc. One day you get into a fight with someone and you get beaten even though they were essentially just buttonmashing with no strategy at all. You check them out after your loss and see that they've got 15000 PvP kills. If it were me in this situation, that wouldn't make me feel any better or worse than seeing that it was their first PvP encounter ever, and they got all their OP equipment from grinding kobolds or from an online store. In any case, it's a PvP game where someone can achieve faceroll status and beat people who are skilled without having any skill themselves. I do not see why you'd care how they got the gear.

Tried Aion, couldnt get into it... EQ is where it's at, folks. 14 day trial til' it goes F2P :D

I bought Aion at launch, as did 4 of my friends, and we all agreed the game reeked.  We stuck it for a couple of months, but the game got shallower and shallower as time went by, so we all binned the game.  I literally wouldn't pay it for free.

Gank, Zerg, rng, then rng overcome in the past with pay to win 100% guaranteed manastone socketing - nothing more to see here, move along.

Do they have any plans for a pve server since i don't like to mix pvp and pve ?

One of the better F2P models to be honest. Good job NCSoft.
