Because they have whats basicly the most series of fantasy books, now a very popular TV show, and all we have got as far as games is a really really really really bad RTS and now a browser based mmo.

This should be getting the big budget treatment.
BigPoint is big budget. There's way too many here that think that the hivemind views of this forum are in any way indicative of the norm... or even reality for that matter.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
Well, The Game of Thones really only has its politics as far as a show otherwise people watch it for the softcore scenes that are littered around this show like ashe signifiying a volcano erruption, so for a game they wont have much more and they wont be able to have the maturity rating, they've hinted it will be a browser based game, and then theres the people incharge of the game, nothing here is really looking up. The best they can hope for is Battlestar Galactica success which is barely that at all, TV studios funneling money to make a game never works, it has to be a Developer going to a TV studio begging to make a game using their IP.
If they realy believed in the game it wouldnt be browser based, purely because if it had enough substance it couldnt be ran on a browser.
I don't know why people think the politics in Game of Thrones are interesting. Real world politics are much crazier and fantastical than anything Martin came up with.

This is old news, IGN had an article months ago on this.
There were also thread after thread deleted on the subject after people kept bashing BigPoint over the IP deal.
People, quite frankly, don't like BigPoint's Cash-Shop model, or their underskilled development model.

Another reused IP failure?
BigPoint?
Great, a fantacy Browser clone of Battlestar Galactica Online.
Holy crap, like we need that?
Who controls the licensing to this game?

It shouldn't be getting anything in the game world. It's just wrong.

Yes true, I am thinking more Riftwar Saga by Raymond E Feist.
LOL, a Game of Thrones MMO? whats next? a Once Upon a Time MMO! or wait.. I want a Desperate Housewives mmo!! hehe
A TV channel station must be funneling serious money into development for something like this monstrosity to occur.
Mess with the best, Die like the rest
Why is it a monstrosity?
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
