From an announcement on twitter, the second closed beta will be happening in late march. Will there be another sign up period?
I am pretty sure the last sign up period was for this upcoming beta. Thats what I thought but the GW2 websites homepage gives you a link to the sign ups again. Though it says it is closed, which is why I am confused. That's just so you can get another copy of the confirmation email if you didn't get it or couldn't find it the first time around.
I am pretty sure they won't feel the need to get more signups. They have more than a million people. That will be a large enough pool for whatever they need, and those people who were following closely enough to do that are the ones who will do the most testing and give the most feedback.

Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit."

The 48 hour sign up window was for the upcoming closed beta events. With a million sign ups, I doubt they will need more, but I'm sure if they do have to open up sign ups again at some point, they will have plenty of takers.
I remember seeing a dev say that they would need tens of thousands of testers for the upcoming beta event. Hopefully that was referencing the late March event and they will increase the numbers further in April.
I did get confirmation that this upcoming weekend event was not what they are referring to as a "Public Beta", it's just another Closed Beta event with a greatly expanded number of testers via the sign ups. Full NDA as well. I suspect April will be more of that, but hopefuly there will be an even bigger, NDA free "Public Beta" event in May, (my speculation).
THe sign ups where for all upcomming beta events, including the final public stress testing beta...
Not signed up yet? Just wayt till release.
They'll have more opportunities in events closer to release to sign up. Not that it will guarantee anything.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

that is not confirmed , if anything it is so far denied that there will be more signups . But that doesn't mean that there can come a free for all open trial weekend or two before launch.

Of course it isn't. It never is. But we've been around long enough to know they will as they always do.

Mike did say that gw2 likely will have a free weekend before the official launch just like gw, but that was a year ago so it might have changed.
But my guess is that it hasn´t. And anyways, I am sure they also will add a free trial a while after launch just like gw have.

I hope they don't do another beta-sign up period. Don't want more people to hurt my chances of getting in.
