"To go a little bit more in depth with the answer I gave, it doesn't really matter which professions you bring. Over the beta weekend I played through the dungeon with several different journalists and getting through was never a matter of bringing particular professions or even changing the builds that people were using. When we hit a tough patch people would change which weapons or utilities they were using but nobody ever had to go respec their traits. I was in groups that wiped multiple times in story mode but I was also in groups that did not wipe at all in story mode and was in one group that made it through explorable mode (we wiped a lot in that one). It all came down to how well we coordinated and how well we responded to the situations we encountered.
For example, in the explorable run through I think it was two journalists who were both warriors (one may have been a guardian, I'm having trouble recalling), our producer Chris Whiteside with a ranger, Izzy playing an elementalist, and myself playing an engineer. At different times Izzy was our condition removal guy, our debuffer, and our "tank" (bait is a more appropriate term actually). He was our most important player because he was our best player but he was actually very support/healing specced. The important thing about that group was that we were all talking and coordinating our efforts and coming up with strategies together. Those strategies never really revolved around specific skills but rather things like "We need condition removal" or "we need to stack as much vulnerability on this guy as possible" or even "we need Izzy to run around attracting attention while the rest of us activate the traps built into the area to kill the hordes of incoming mobs". I hope that helps shed some light on how the game plays."
So we can expect some exploration mode boss to have: High armor bosses , zergs of mobs (like razorgore), deadly debuff bosses (Noth the plaguebringer). They will just take more coordination to kill them, since everyone can all support/control/dps. I was always expecting the bosses to have similiar strategies to some of the wow bosses I have seen.
Their are not many new ways to invent a boss. Their were some bosses in WoW that required surprising strategies when I use to play. Razorgore, chromaggus, Twin Emp, Viscidus, and most of the bosses in the orginal Naxx when raiders had to figure out the strategies for them. All of those bosses made raiders think outside of the box to kill them. I hope they will make some bosses with unique strategies.

i just like how facerolling isnt possible in this game. it's been a while since we've had challenging MMO PVE content.
well ... umm.. yeah... i hope so too but umm, its a new game still and have you seen how badly the people played in the pvp videos ? there was even one guy who ran past enemy and carefully walked backwards so the enemy would be again in his front if i remember correctly... maybe they could be just be really bad players
Definitely one area of the game that needs to be very challenging - suited for particular player that relishes challenges.

I hope the story mode dungeons are like Pre-nerf (2.0) normal mode besh from aion. And the exploration mode is a little harder than pre-nerf hard mode also from aion. That was one of the most challenging instances we my static first started doing that instance. one failed pulled or CC could easily cost a wipe, it never happen to us but it was still challenging.
Yeah overall it is the difficult that I am concerned about most in this game. Their is a ton of casual content and from the look at some of the story mode DE videos the early levels stuff seem difficult enough. I just hope its difficult does not scale down to much, once you get gear and are sidekicked up/down some levels.
I think this video sums up very well what ANet are saying:
Guild Wars 2 - Playing the Mesmer Walkthrough
For lvl 13, thats a pretty epic battle that you normally wouldn't see in an MMO until you're max lvl in a 10-20+ man raid. Its very clear you wouldn't be able to just faceroll this battle or use a trinity setup. Towards the end you see most players in this battle falling no matter their class and requiring help from others...I love it!
Another thing I found interesting in that video is that the guy only gets Silver participation for the event. Prehaps the requirements for Gold will be higher than I thought. Honestly, I hope Gold takes some work. It's fine if everyone in the event can reach Gold participation as long as they are all working hard. But if you're just 'OK' at your job and basically keeping busy, that's what Silver should be for.
edit: also this vid reminded me of Canada zone in CO
Charr: Outta my way.
Human: What's your problem?
Charr: Your thin skin.
Great video and yes it show that the whole game is mixed expirience, endgame, questing, exploring.
Yeah, but they only played it for a weekend. I think most people really will need at least 2 weeks to be able to handle a dungeon well in most MMOs. Of course if the game is very similar to others you already played things are easier but I still wouldn´t call me a good player of anything after a weekend.
Most of the people in the vids also never even tried a dungeon before but had just been out adventuring in the open world. that doesn´t help either.
Most players adapt to the right difficulty after a while, and the rest wont play dungeons.
looks like the big Rift Bosses that happen in the world...
