I just downloaded this game. There has been many enhancements to it and add-ons. It is a combination of first person space combat with a commander giving orders. So it is a space sim multiplayer / RTS.
I played it years ago and started playing again. Very difficult trying to remember all the controls and what to do.
The community can be very hateful if you don't do something right. So what I was told, you just ignore them.
Allegiance is a free, online, multi-player space simulation game. You pilot spacecraft, flying in a team with other players, defending and attacking sectors in space. Your team is led by a Commander who makes tactical decisions and invests in technology and bases. Flight and combat is done in first person view in a 3D environment, with a real-time, top-down 'Command view' of your immediate surroundings also available.
It originally came out in 2000
