Kids are evrywhere and in any mmo's these days.

But to beat WoW's retarded aggresive community full of whiney kids one has to go real real deep.

And most will stay there on the other side i hope.

I plan to join one of the older MMO community's as soon as the game launches and stay away from those plagued kids whenever posible.

Now not all kids are like that, alot of adults are acting like dicks to, i can be a dick sometimes, but i will never ever talk down to another player making a mistake or trying something for the 1st time and burn his morale down to the point of quiting.

Something that is done each minute in WoW's random dungeons/raids or battlegrounds.

I hope Anet makes a ignore list so big it will be as big as a black hole :)

Perhaps you should have your 8$ cup of coffee before you post. As was pointed out in the first few replies, sub type doesn't affect community as much as would be believed. Game popularity affects the community more than cost.

I used to think paying a sub made for a better community, but fact is just about any fool can afford 15.00 a month and from what I've experienced recently many fools do sub to MMO's. image

So no, sub fees won't improve a community, it really comes down to whether or not the game mechanics encourage better player behavior, and I haven't see a title like that in many years.

GW2 community won't be any better or worse than the current titles out there, you'll have to chose your friends wisely and ignore those folks who annoy you.

Good news is ANET is supposedly going to design the game so you can't annoy people even in PVE activities, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Nah, you created an account solely for the purpose of trolling. Real men don't hide behind fake accounts to get their jollies at the expense of others.

That being said, the subscription market, your P2P games, are watching GW2 with a worried eye. If this really catches on, if people realize they can unsub from WoW, SWTOR etc. and have an amazing MMO waiting for them for only the cost of the box they know their cash-cow will be drying up in the near future. Preemptive shots across the bow are the first ripples from the waves of panic those sub-based games will be projecting forth.

Really you had to go there with this pointless drivvle? GW1 was F2P and there were not many kiddies in the game and there will always be kids in games.

Gold farmers - it depends on how popular the game is and how difficult it is to get gold. Also the important thing is security in the game.

The jobless can't afford to pay the money to buy a game so this is non-sensical.

Get over yourself - I don't want too many shills like you in the game.

Guy playing videogames worries about kids playing it too

Is it me or is this a very limited, kidophobic, childish and extremely arrogant behavior?(the "I work-I rich-I can afford P2P" wtf? does it make you proud of yourself? )...most of the kids you worry about are probably more tolerant and nicer to meet ingame than you

(I'm a university student - I have no need to defend kids, I just want you to think about your own sick behavism)

As the guy above me said, get over yourself for real

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

To anyone who thinks there must be something you can say to counter, tell-off, or otherwise put a troll in his place: THERE IS NOT.

No degree of intellect, eloquence or wit will suffice.  There is no combination of words in any language that will accomplish this.  If you reply to the troll--at all, with ANYTHING, NO EXCEPTIONS--the troll has succeeded; his work is complete.  The more impassioned your response, the greater degree of delight for the troll.  There is no intention on the troll's part to win an argument. He very likely doesn't even believe any of what he says.  All he wants to do is rile you up.

So PLEASE, for the love of god, override that instinct to defend your beloved entity for just one thread, and just stop replying... You are only doing your game and yourselves a disservice.

The working man is being pushed to breaking point. Things need to change or you will winess a good old revolution soon.

I hope you enjoy everything your parents give you. So many freeloaders around today. Goodbye, i have work to do to pay for my holiday.

So Mr. familly man, you didn't answer my question. Do you intend to let your kids play online games or is it only other peoples kids you object to? I guess yours will be barred until they are adults with full time jobs. Seems harsh, I always enjoyed playing games with my son.

For someone that portrays themselves as a 'proud working man' you seem rather bitter. Funny really it was precisely by not being feckless that I was able to retire at a fairly modest age. Whatever.

Oh, speaking of parents charity, do you plan on paying for your kids holiday? Just wondering.

True, though I think the OP was probably made in good faith, in poor taste but in good faith.

With trolls the game becomes not getting riled up whilst finding their 'buttons'. Of course real pro trolls are completely divorced from the position they espouse, it is simply designed to provoke with no grounding in there own personal beliefs. Fortunately trolls like this are pretty rare, most have a bit of themselves in their posts and this can be unravelled. Even pro trolls can be 'beaten' with careful logical argument, or course they will never admit to it but everyone else knows it is a victory.

Time to get up and go to lunch!

Nobody can expect large content updates for free, but people will complain if they don't get them anyway.

However, we can hope that they will add lots of features. ArenaNet developed some of the things they said they would, for free in GW1, but other things never made it into the game. For example it had been the plan to add an auction house and mail system into GW1 since the beginning. Never happened. Even after 6-7 years!

They added other things. Hard mode was great. As was Directx9. Observer mode too - Though too late. SF was a gift, for having to wait so long for Factions.

A lot of people praise ArenaNet like they are the second coming of christ. They are indeed my favorite developer for the way they handled GW day-to-day throughout the years, but they did break promises and fell short of what they tried to achieve on some occassions. Nobody is perfect, but not everyone on this forum understands that.

I think it's absolutely fair to charge for whatever content they provide. Hopefully it will be in campaign sized packs. Perhaps 2 big updates every year.

If you look at the rate WoW gets a new content update, with a new raid, battleground and a dungeon and some misc features, it seems to come out every 4-5th months. Two big ones between each expansion. Blizzard figured out that it felt more significant to make larger content updates than many small ones. I personally agree with this.

But I did not like what Blizzard provided. They never fixed their PvP, their PvE was often more of the same, and I didn't like how rarely they updated the game.

I am okay with paying 30 dollars, for a 10 hour PvE content update if it's very high quality. After all, I am paying 60 dollars these days for an 8 hours console action games. This content should be extremely high quality, and it should not be more of the same.  Rarely is DLC good. Standout examples are the Episodes for GTA4 and some of the content from Mass Effect 2 (OL and LotSB) .

The good and easy thing about adding paid content in GW2 is that they don't need to raise the level cap. It's redundant, as they can add areas and world events into the game seamlessly, and thanks to scaling and side kicking it makes it easy to integrate into the game. Realistically they will never have to raise the cap of 80, thus avoiding the bullshit that has assaulted other MMOs. And keeping a soft cap, is in the spirit of GW.

They can add new skills in a horizontal line, by adding new weapon types. This makes much more sense. New weapon types like morning star, spear, two-handed axe, polearm, double bladed sword, dual wielding hammers, whatever, can give new skills to all professions. These can easily be implanted throughout the entire base game.

That's another way to avoid ruining balance.

Most games have characters grow in power vertically, thus creating imbalance. GW is about adding more utility, but keeping everything relevant (Magic The Gathering).

So bring on the high quality pay content.
