Why to buy...

ComanComan Member UncommonPosts: 2,178

I'm plannig to buy the game, but not sure.....i wondering between Wow (mainly for there battlefield function) or CoH

Both have game card (with is very handy as i have no CC)

one of the reason i can come on is becouse i like the fact they going to add CoV...but can you give me more reasons. For example how easy is it to get the hang of the game. How does the creater make the game "not boring" as a lot of mmorpg are starting to bore as the only thing you do is kill x or bring something from point a to b. What makes the game diffent then other game (with exeption that you can create a superhero). or why should i NOT buy this game. Please give me a reason with some text and not just say it suck or to say xxxx is better.

And how is the game staff in the game? how many time is the gmae update do they add new big things to the game....just tell me everything good or bad about the game. And dont make a commurcial out of it, just give me the pro's and con's. thanks

To me, the game is pretty fun. CoH and DAoC are the only MMORPG's that i've played that have kept me hooked.

Probably one of the main reasons why CoH is unique is the character creation. It will be rare seeing a character who looks just like you, and they plan on coming out with more custom looks in the future too.

Basically you are busting crime and beating up bad guys. You might think it's just the same thing over and over, but as you get higher in the levels you start fighting harder stuff and cool enemies. You might hear that you HAVE to group to level your character, but i'm almost level 22 and i've only grouped a few times. But if you're into grouping, this game encourages it and also joining a Supergroup is cool(Guilds in other MMORPGs).

What would be a game about superheroes without superpowers? There are a big handful of cool powers to choose from, and secondary powers like Superspeed and flying which make a good traveling power so getting from one mission to the other won't take you forever and a day.

The only bad thing about this game is that it's just a leveling MMORPG, BUT they are coming out with a colleseum type thing in the next patch and everyone can pvp eachother and compete in a ranking system. Then there is CoV ;)

    Looking for something new.

Well I play WOW and city of heroes now. However there is no battleground fucntion in WOW yet and they are not sure when it will be added in. For end game pvp and pve stuff it requires groups of over 40 people so WOW is good but if you want something you can solo not have to dedicate to much time to I would reccomend city of heroes the devs there are amazing and truly devoted to improving the game.

I just purchased WoW yesterday and I'm still subscribed to CoH currently.  While I can't say much about WoW yet since Im only level 5image, so far I can say that the graphics are superior to CoH in my opinion, but some hate that cartoony-style graphics.  I rarely ran into lag in WoW, and I almost never run into lag  in CoH.  WoW's quests seem superior to City of Hero's missions, but only time will tell if WoW's quests become repetitive.

The community in WoW, however, is vastly inferior to CoH's.  People just came up to me and kept attacking any monsters I was attacking, some of the time getting credit for the kill.  One time a guy kept following me, attacking any monster I was about to attack(he was a warrior and I was a warlock).

It seems like WoW will keep me occupied for a long time since I am a casual gamer, I'm only a little over halfway through the levels on CoH and I've been subscribed for 7 monthsimage

All in all, I think both games are some of the best out there, and, if your playing style is like mine, you really can't go wrong with either.  You may even want to search around on Ebay.  Maybe someone is selling just the game of WoW, and you can try it out free for 30 daysimage

Do you know what? Despite the fact that CoH is meant to be a little shallow, it seems like such a well-crafted, polished and enjoyable game - especially, if like me, your a casual rather than hardcore gamer in terms of time devoted per day/week - that I am thinking of trying it when CoV comes out. I'm not the hero type (unless, I create a super hero called 'Camp Crusader', calling people, "duckie" and berating potential molestation victims for their revealing clothing), so an evil mastermind sounds just perfect.

The only snag is that I will definitely need to upgrade my venerable Pc (we're talking GeForce2 400MX).

Interesting decision because I'm adjusting my gaming attitude around my current lifestyle, and although I wish to play DnL, I don't think I can put in an EQ type commitment. That game nearly killed me .. an hour or two a night max sounds fine and dandy - yeah, right. In theory. We all know in practice that an hour or two turns into a mammoth session where familial commitments and studies go right out of the window!

Will be keeping an eye on CoH (and CoV) developments.

    Regards,
    Riotgirl

Order the game and the 60 day card...should get it by monday or so. I don't really care about grafics. i prefer good balance gameplay, but thanks for the great reaction (maybe such a topic should be created at more game, it really helps)
