So this really sucks.  I got a beta key through MMORPG.com and DL'ed the game client.  I had everything ready to login and play all weekend but lo and behold, when the login asks for the armor key sent from EnMasse, the armor key doesn't work.  So then I try to access support but again it asks for the armor key and again the armor key doesn't work.  Then I figure the forums may be the way to go but once again... they request the armor key and STILL doesn't work.  They have sent me 5 different armor keys and NONE of them work.  This really pisses me off since I have no way to contact them without a valid armor key and no way to obtain a valid armor key without support.  I'm going to wipe the client from my system and not even bother with the damned game.

Not sure what an Armor key is, but you typically register the key on the En Masse site and then the client should work.  Thats essentially what I did for the last beta, and this one. When I launched the client I had two options, but one was greyed out.  Launching the second one I was fine.

I'm pissed that my character from last beta didnt save :(

I finally got an armor code that works.  I guess they were saying I was logging in from an unknown source yet it is the only source I ever logged in from.  Anyway, after I was finally logged in, it took over a day to patch the client.  My DL speed was between 100 kbps and 1 mbps.  I have an extremely fast connection so it was ridiculous.

Once the game finally started, I found that it was just another Korean MMO where you go and kill blank number of blanks then they send you to kill blank MORE number of blanks and then come back and kill blank number of bigger blanks.

Needless to say I was extremely disappointed since this was one of the 3 games I have been looking forward to, the other 2 being Secret World and Wildstar.

If you're looking for a good Korean MMO with TONS of stuff to do, I recommend Forsaken World.  For a good skill based targeting system type MMO, I recommend either Vindictus or Dragon Nest.

Vindictus and Dragon's nest are not MMOs. Forsaken world is even worse in term of fed ex quests that Tera, not to mention that it's a P2win cash shop game.

Your ISP is throttling your P2P (peer to peer) connections. You should have a talk with them or better yet, go to a better one. You can also disable the P2P option from the Tera launcher, if changing ISPs is not an option.

If MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online, then Dragons Nest and Vindictus fit that category.  I was actually referring to their target based combat system.

There is a lot more to do in Forsaken World ie capturing pets and defending the navy, crafting, merchant runs etc.  In general I find the game to be a lot more fun.  My character is level 44 with some pretty good gear and I've never paid a dime.  I also only play on a casual basis.

My ISP has never throttled me before and I have Comcast which is the fastest we have out here.  I DL'ed the entire Lineage 2 client in under an hour.

In any case, I am still very disappointed in TERA and will probably not play it on a regular basis.

Well, under your definition of mmo's then diablo and call of duty also fit the description. The first thing that a mmo needs to have is a persistent world, neither of those two games have. There is a difference between a game that offers coop action with others and a massively multiplayer game. Not even SW:TOR is a true mmorpg.

Peer to peer refers to a certain protocol of file transfer. It's quite widespread for torrenting and it's the reason ISPs hate it, it creates too much traffic on their systems.Quite a few games use it as well. World of warcraft updater is (well, was when I used to play it) one of them. At some point the majority of ISPs were throttling down speed, for various reasons, but after protests some of them took the draconian measure back.

The problem with Forsaken world (any perfect world game really) is that whoever gives money to the cash shop buys a huge advantage both in PvP and PvE. You can casually play PvE in Forsaken world (and it's an interesting game for a while, before the monotonous dailies kill the novelty), but any thought of serious PvP is squashed by the huge disparity between normal gear and cash shop enchanced ones.

Purely speaking, I would say yes, it is massive, it is multiplayer and it is online and I also would say that Dragons Nest and Vindictus both do have persistent worlds.  It's just that the quests are all instanced.  Would you consider Guild Wars an MMO?  All of their quests are instanced.  I do understand where you're coming from though, the more traditional MMMORPGs like WoW, DAoC and Everquest are the first things to come to mind when someone speaks of MMOs.

Are ISPs able to selectively throttle certain P2P networking?  I used to play WoW as well as many other games that require P2P and have never had such a slow DL speed.

Forsaken World has been fun for me so far but as I said, I am a casual player and have not done pvp.  I'm all about questing and yes, the dailies are impossible to finish daily since there are 30 from one NPC in the town square alone, not to mention the crafting dailies, the merchant dailies, etc.  I generally just do the zone quests and some crafting.  Plenty for me for free.

On another note, I'm liking TERA a little more even though it's still pretty typical and nothing out of the ordinary.  I just wish they made text a little easier to read.  It's a real eyestrain for me.

The original Guild Wars is not considered an mmorpg, not even by their own developers. Yes, EQ, DAoC and WoW are all mmorpgs, although tbh, WoW is played as a hub game these days and the open world is ignored pretty much when you hit cap.

You can adjust individual UI element scaling from options. You should be able to magnify stuff if you are having trouble seeing them.

I guess that's just the changing face of the MMO world.

Thanks for all your input and information.  I appreciate a good flame free conversation.
