pff, i like it.
played the beta for most of this evening (thanx to you MMORPG.com for the ticket.)
rarely have i had 5 hours just go woop! and seem to disappear so fast.
my only real complaint is that i had to fiddle with the UI scale to get it large enough to read it (playing at max resolution.)
the quest texts and all that seem pretty well translated and well written. the anime elements love them or hate them are all there. including the admittedly creepy oversexualized little elf girls. and the poporis which are just grand.
the chat, while it was not as adult as, say, a mature only guild's guildchat on LOTRO-landroval, was pretty positive and everyone seemed to have just positive things to say about the game (one exception: the public is still saying the beginning's too easy).
the game play for me was a good mix of familiar components and different and exciting combat. i think the action game style of fighting is a draw just because it's different; i feel the same way about a game like eve which also has different controls compared to most MMOs. the quests are standard but there are good ideas there such as their transparent overlay minimap which you can filter to show a certain quest mob location. the art style is somewhere in the space between graceful korean-anime and oddball trippy cartoon (i think of Aion mixed with, well with a lot more drugs..( and if you've played aion you know that's saying something...)
I have not taken the preorder plunge but i would not be surprised if i end up preordering.
on a 1 to 100 scale my impression (again only the first 5 hours) i would give a good 88% adding +5 if you are super super into anime (i am a fan but it's not my obsession.... fantasy novels are 
)

I shoulda stop reading after you said you only played for 5 hours but i didn't... and its your opinion.. i played a couple of the other betas... and theres nothing new to this game apart from the combat even then it gets old... another asain grinding to add to the pile
Your post was good, till you hit the last part of your sentence and pretty much throw all your credibility out the window. Hey if you find that the combat isn't enough and get boring than you don't like it your choice i'm fine with that. However its not another asain grind because if you think Tera is grindy that so is swtor, rift, and WoW because Tera is on about the same lvling speed scale as those games. If you think this is grindy than every mmorpg beside GW would be grindy.
@OP 14hrs stright =D 32-38 and farming the new dungeon, much more challenging than SM. got gold armor for my lancer but nothing else o.-

Don't listen to the trolls. EVERY new game will get bashed on. Even guild wars 2 when open beta starts. people will be bashing that game.
I don't mind people talking negative about a game as long as they are doing it with respect and respect the players that do like it. But to come on a forum, about a game you don't like, just to troll on a player that likes a game. Find something better to do plz. Also, all the players going "waiting for GW2>all games" just need to stop. It's like you people will have no respect for other games because GW2 is coming out. EVERYONE is gonna be playing GW2 since it's freesub AND you know what that means? That everyone here can play GW2 + Any other p2p game they love. I will be going tera and GW2, win/win situation IMO.
Tera is good. It's nothing new, even the combat is not new. but what it does, it does great in. Does great in + awesome graphics = good game is how i see it. For example, why play rift when you can play this? this has everything rift has + better combat + better graphics. (I bet lots would choose rift > tera because tera has asian graphics, which is just crazy. To dismiss a good game over it's cover.)

Customer service stinks - unable to login and you need to login to complain that you can't login.
They are currently having problems with this and I have reported this to the GMs on behalf of players like you who are unable to login.
Their customer service is gold, they always respond to their fullest and do not give ridiculous automated responses. Whenever I speak with them, whether live chat and ticket, they "engage" you in a conversation.

Thats fine but in after 2 months of the game going live and when the inevitable population decline drops because of lack of whatever that plagues the themepark genre dont come here making post after post about how Tera failed or doesnt have enough endgame content, or that Enmasse sucks or any other negative thread about the game. I get sick and tired of warning every fan of pre-release themepark clone thats come and gone over the last 6 years only to turn around 2 months after release explaingining why they have left or quit. Trust me it will happen again with this game but jsut dont say I didnt say I told you so.
Its funny I see like 50% of every poster here, was super duper hyper of SWTOR last year. Post count history, to paraphase the great president John Adams, is a stubburn thing. Again I get people like different things and some may legitimetly are looking forward to Tera but when I see the same posters who have hyped failed games of the past I get this sense of being in a Bud-Light commercial....Here we go, AGAIN!

Well, if you want to be that much of a cynic, you can also claim that GW2 is a rehash of Warhammer PvE, DAoC PvP, LOTRO combat and LoL cash shop (I hope). Decent evolution but not much in innovation (aka nothing new). Are you going to warn us about it as well and save us from the folly of our choice?
I laugh at these reviews. Most MMO's are decent or fun the first 1-20 levels, or the first 5-10 hours. Its all the new, etc that makes it enjoyable. Wipe off that new and thats where MMO's become stale and the same old garbage. TERA is no better of an MMO then any other past that initial experience. Same quest and mob grind, same PvP, same end game, etc etc.

Played for an hour or so (Lancer) and got bored. Although I was impressed with how good the game looks and runs even on my older hardware, there's really nothing all that great about it. I'm also admittedly a PvE player, and since the game's 'endgame' will primarily consist of PvP (AFAIK) there's really no reason for me to buy it.
I hope everyone who likes it has a wonderful time, and it stays active for a good many years, but I really don't think it's for me.
Same thing can be said about Guild Wars 2. Dont complain afther 1 month when people start leaving because they have grown tired of the instanced pvp / themepark gameplay, lack of content, boring point and click combat and pay to win cash shop. Nice sig btw, it explains exaclty what we have been talking about.
This is a clear example of how a post should be. I would advise trying a couple more classes and if the game is still not doing it for you then its probaly not for you. I will say that it does start slow and gets better as you level which is one of my cons of the game.
I wont, but I also dislike when people troll the GW2 forums to be spiteful, especially since all indicators point to GW2 being a great game This isntanced PvP you speak of in GW2 will be nominal at best because the WvW will be where the action is at. And GW2 offers nothing similar to themepark gameplay like a WOW, SWTOR or Tera Since the entire world is devoted to cooperative gameplay and exploration. As stated I have nothing personal against Tera other then it doesnt offer much difference from any other themepark MMO over the last 7 years sans combat.
As for the Sig I made it as a response to a Tera fanboi trolled every positive GW2 post I made. Again I am like 700 for 700 in discerning the failures of modern themepark MMO's and I will stand by my predictions of anything Asian in the Western market.

You don't like people that troll the GW2 forums (which i can understand) but why is it ok to do it for other games? It's clear you have no love for tera and yet here you are every day on the tera forums spewing your displeasure of the game...shame on you bro. You should take your advice and just leave well enough alone. Or is it that you just cannot stand other people liking something you do not? or something other than GW2.................
