this I will wholeheartedly agree with, GW1 ppl are very... inside the box type ppl... they dont think it works unless its been done that way for a year. Example.. Dunes of Despair HM... "OMG you cannot do it w/o necrotic traversal and a full grp of players with specific builds!!! Cant be done its SOOO hard!" The wiki was even changed and a lot of VERY useful info was deleted. I ended up doing it with all heroes after going in many times over a day or so of play(I was getting specific skills not failing). Eventually I got the skill I needed and finished it.. was all about getting the right heroes in my grp and just doing it a different way.

There exists a game with a perfect community.  No asshats or elitists.

GW2 has put in numerous mechanics to help develop a better community.....it may or may not work.  Either way there will always be a population of players that cause trouble.

Deal with it or follow the link I posted.

Bad players usually rage at you if you try and give them advice on how to help their game play.

Bad players refuse to change bad habbits and blame everyone else for their bad game play.

Bad players DO harrass other players by refusing to try and improve.  I've been parts of so many guilds where people are so stuck with the horrible game play mechanics they are accustomed to that they hold hostage the parties that show pitty on them in any raid or dungeon.

IF these bad players would work with those willing to help them improve their game play then I wouldn't have an issue but most of them are not just bad players they have bad attitudes.

I was in a guild that had a BAD BAD player who refused any form of help but demanded to be part of all raids and dungeons because they were an officer.  The Guild Leader would blame everyone else if we didn't succeed in the raid but refused to put the blame where it was warranted.  We had programs to show how much everyone in the raid contributed and we could all see who didn't move out of circles of death and the first person to die the majority of the time was only one person yet nothing was done about it.

Infact when others would offer assistance this player would rage at them so we were FORCED to be harrased by her game play in every raid because she refused to change and in the end caused the guild to not progress in any raid content.  Everyone had to compensate for this player = BAD FOR EVERYONE.  This example has been experienced by so many people, it is not a rare thing to see in casual guilds that don't want to hurt peoples feelings because "everyone should be in the dungeon or raid"  thats garbage.

By allowing bad players to stay their course and refuse change and still allow them to be in a dungeon environment or raid environment ALL OTHER GUILD MEMBERS will be negatively impacted.  I personally play games to enjoy my time and relax last thing I want is some person in my party who refuses to improve their game play especially if their current game play is the reason we can not succeed in the content at hand.

that is the guild leader or class/prof officers job. That is more a guild leadership issue than a player issue. As a GM I allowed thosewho played badly to stay but they knew that if they didn't improve through working with their specified person that they would lose their raid spot and be downranked to a social member. BUT! This is a situation in raiding MMOs.. not for GW2. You will never be forced to play alongside someone who you think isn't a good player.. unless its a good friend you are embarassed to say they are ;) In V8 I doubt it will even matter having a few "baddies" around, let them take care of the PVE objectives with the carebears like myself.

Some advice though.. if you have to deal with someone holding back your raid talk to your GM or class officer.. that shouldn't be allowed and if it is well... find a better guild. Also I notice the "she" thing... if she was someone importants girlfriend/wife.. well I had to deal with that as well when I merged with another guild for a short time and ALL of my guys wanted to leave after the first raid with them. I really do not understand women like this.. they make my sex look bad and it REALLY pisses me off.

Well she was an officer and the guild leader was so passive aggresive and didn't want to upset anyone to deal with the issue, especially a lady.  EVERYONE in the guild suffered because she demanded her raid spots and dungeon spots and those who wouldn't include her were treated badly.  We ended up leaving for a good guild.

I've seen raiders, my wife included, who can out perform most guys.  I know it was the guild leaders responsability which is why after 2 months of trying to fix the problem and help the guild leader realise he's destroying his guild by allowing her activity go unchecked we left for an amazing raiding guild but they weren't social so the only time my little group / guild members had any social activity in that guild was during raids.

I personally rather enjoy running my own guild and look forward to putting together huge orginized "raids" within WvW.  We are also going to try and impliment a hardcore team to go into 5 man PvP.   I believe controlling the quality of people who are within a guild along with the player quality is the most important thing.  Aren't we in the game to have fun?

But even if it was the Guild Leaders responsability, it still was a bad player who held an entire guild hostage within any content she was part of.  This is why those who seem elitist have such a bad outlook on bad players because well they've caused it themselves.

Oh a quick alternate example.  We had a warrior merge into our guild who was always asking for help to improve his ability for raids and content.  I personally took it upon myself to help him since I was the Top DPS in our raids.   After helping him work through a build, gear, and such I found out that he was a dirty little clicker... :P  Once when I asked him to test a rotation of attacks he qued up his mic and all I heard was CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK.... HA HA HAH A I bout died laughing but tried to hold it together so I wouldn't belittle him..   Once I could pull myself together I tried for weeks every day at his request to help him learn to use hot keys instead of using his mouse for clicking different skills.    THe ONLY reason I stuck with it and kept helping him, even though he never curved the habbit, was because he had a awesome attitude and willingness to improve.

I some times seem like an evil troll when it comes to bad players holding people hostage but I do have a kind heart and will dedicate countless hours to getting bad players help needed to better enjoy their gaming experience.

So far 3 of us are the core group of players who are forming a guild based on the Knights Codes of Chivalry and such - Guardians of the Garter.  Google us! :D  We wont be seriously recruting until after April 10th and especially once we can focus the guilds direction for the Hard Core players.   Nice to see a Woman on the forums who has a logical approach to debate! thank you for a pleasant conversation.

heh your story with the warrior reminds me of my kiting classes in vanilla for Razzledazzle(I dunno its what our whole server called him).. many had to learn how to WASD + mouse effectively during that time.

Good luck with your guild :)
