A lot of people (me included) have posted our displeasure of the RNG of enchanting. EmE posted today that enchanting and sealing / unsealing has been modified for the NA client.

Hello, TERA community!
Over the last few months we have been working on a lot of changes to make TERA better for our audience. Some of them have been implemented into the game already as seen in our
closed beta test patch notes. But we have more improvements coming our way and among them we have some great news to share with you on enchanting and unsealing systems!
Improved Enchanting Certain items can be enchanted in TERA to increase its effectiveness. The change we will be implementing is the removal of the chance that an unsuccessful enchanting attempt will decrease the item's enchantment level. This means once you earn that enchant level it is yours to keep. In order to offset this change we have introduced 3 tiers of Alkahest powders: one for enchant +1 to +6, one for +7 to +9 and one for +10 to +12. Obviously the cost of powders will be increased at each tier. Our goal here was to keep the cost for getting these items similar but remove the frustrations that random numbers can cause and let you keep what you have already earned.
Improved Unsealing In TERA, you can receive random attributes by unsealing an unidentified item. Then the item can be re-sealed and unsealed again until you receive the attributes you want. We are adding the ability to ‘lock’ the desired attributes earned from Identifying Enigmatic items. This lets you change the attributes you choose while letting you keep the ones you want. You can repeat the process until you receive all 3 or 4 attributes you wish. This should help eliminate the frustration felt of getting that exact combo you want on your items.
We will be sure to update you with more information as they become available and we appreciate your feedback. These changes are the results of the feedback we've received from you and we encourage you to keep sharing your thoughts!

Thanks for the info!
I can hear thousands of Aion fans exclaim: *sigh* "Thank you!". These are welcome changes.
Just not worth my time anymore.
How can I show my happiness?!
I love love love this news.
Great news all around here, less RNG the better. -1 just sucks, its literally taking away your money to make your gear worse, neutral I am fine with but going -1 is lame.
Yeah I hear yea, I wasted so much gold and items in Ktera for nothing ^^ I really like the unsealing change, those things sell for 50K a pop and in the past you had to spam the hell out of them just to get a few of the stats just right. Now you can lock the one's you like and reseal for the rest = less scroll spamming / RNG.

changes makes sense and tis good that a company is thinking for it's customers, since this game is p2p and not f2p.
It's changes like this one that show that EME really takes westernisation seriously. This change among others thate were done was really needed.
Very good news.
Sounds good to me!

Definitely glad to hear this. Even if they reduce the chances of the really good attributes and the highest enchant levels to compensate (and since this is the endgame path to power, I'm sure they will, to keep people from capped TOO quickly), it'll still reduce the feeling that the RNG god is bending you over the counter and making you pay for the experience at the same time.
Not asking for easy-mode, just happy to take a small step away from the asinine-mode.

That the means of progression would not be mutually exclusive from the means of enjoyment.
Woooo we keep what we pay for some one finally got it =D
This is what all those -hardcore- gamers crying it is being turned into babby mode casual game need to understand.
I bet these -hardcore- gamers would be the first ones complaining on the forums when they spend 1bil to enchant an item and end up with something worse than what they started with and some other guy spent 100m and got lucky, has his enchanted item and is flaunting it in the face of the hardcore gamer calling him a noob.
It will still take tons of money and time to enchant gear, just less RNG involved, if anything, it is even better odds those hardcore players will be the first ones with +12 now, instead of whoever gets lucky.
well to counter balance it just increase fail rate but ya not going down is really nice. On the offical forum people already suggested safty lvl which works even better because it favor both. So safty lvl are 3,6,9 so if you get to 3 you won't even drop below 3 and you get to 6 you won't ever drop below 6 and so on. This way you won't get liek +9 to +0 because of back luck but still take more time than current system which means both side can't bish ast much.
why would i want to spend my time upgrading my stuff based on chance???, arent there enough time sink available and to create another game of chance????? no thank u game of chance if i want a game of chance i would play poker or gamble with real $$$.
This is a really good change, Great job to ENMasses, They are already listening to the community. This game will be an Epic ride.
Will those changes also be implemented in EU? I didn't read anywhere in patch notes about it. We have CBT4 now in Europe and my item failed from +3 to +2 ant then from +2 to +1. I'm getting impression that Frogster did that on purpose to milk more money from players somehow in the future (chronoscrolls?). Not cool.
Changes to the game outside of ones mentioned in CBT patch notes will not be coming until release...lol.
Also Chronoscrolls, implying they cost around the same price as a sub, do not make the company money in that context because they are sold to players in game and grant the player who purchases it a free monthly subscription...meaning no profit is made.
Anyway, the possibility to get your gear downgraded in the enchanting process means that you have to spend (much?) more time on farming gold. The longer it takes the longer you pay subscription (that you might not be willing to pay otherwise), the more money Frogster will get. Just my thoughts.
From watching how previous beta weekends evolved, it seems that Frogster is lagging a weekend to implement the beta changes implemented by EME. So, I guess that either Frogster does not have any development rights and is just hosting the game or the localisation to two extra languages takes some more time.
Or probably a combination.
Hopefully we get more great westernization changes before head start in 4 weeks.
Keep them coming En Masse.
