Shepard's series is over - it has been for a month now. Just accept it. If you would prefer a different ending now then dream up your own. I was somewhat upset at first, but I'm over it. It is only a game after all. Yes, I said it.
I think the most important truth we can all take away from this, is that you can never trust any author not to completely ruin the story. Each person has their own idea on how a story should go, some of which are wildly different. Honestly, this ending fiasco BioWare has gone with makes me not want to buy any games or books, from anyone, forever. I'd be better off if I went and made my own game, wrote my own book, told my own story. At least then I would be happy with the ending.
It is interesting how stuff like this impacts Bioware and EA. I have played both ME and ME2, but after reading the fans reaction to ME3 (in general) I no longer wish to buy it.
-shrug-
Just to much negativity for me to spend 60 dollars on it.

Yes, and they ended it in the most ass way possible. I postulate the only way Bioware could have done a worse job was to add something like midi-chlorians to the game.
While you can say "its just a game", you need to also remember ME3 is also a PRODUCT. Negative fan feeling could come back to hurt them in the wallet department even on unrelated games. So since some of us gamers prefer to purchase games with more than cow-like indifference, we'll continue to have discussions about such things, whether it annoys you or not.

It will never come back to hurt them. This was EA screwing this up. The first real botch up I remember for EA was UO. And, after that, it became an annual tradition, yet people will keep buying their products. They know it, that's why they do not care what ME fans think. Their customer base extends far beyond ME fans. Once ME is forgotten in a few years by the overall market, they will continue to swim in their riches.
And, I never stated it annoyed me. I simply said move on. This game was never going to end the way anyone wanted it to because everyone had a different idea of how it should have ended. Mind, I'm sure, was different than yours whic hwas different to someone else's and so on and so on.

Not true.
It already has hurt them at least a bit.
I will never buy another Bioware product again. This is from someone who has pre-ordered or bought on launch every recent Bioware release.
I'd rather give my money to Kickstarter than waste my money on another Bioware product.

Just watch a Let's play or story walkthrough on youtube instead, like i did - once you see the ending, you'll probably be glad you didn't waste any time & money on it.
edit: That said, the story is ok till the ending - better than ME2, actually. But the ending is simply so bad that it kills the entire story. There is no way the "extended ending" can fix this mess.

You got that right, VoS.
Just watching the clips of the whole "Joker gets away with no explanation" made me say "WTF, were they high? And high on what?"
There've always been two schools of thought as to those unhappy with the ending; the people who are unhappy because the ending made no sense, and the people who are both unhappy that it made no sense and that there wasn't a possibility for everything to be happy after all.
The latter group is honestly kinda dumb, in a way, because if you aren't happy about the lack of a "perfect" ending, then that is legitimately infringing on the ability of a story teller to make a story. I'm unhappy because if Mass Effect is a canvas for them, they simply went outside the edges and drew on the table. It just doesn't make any sense.

I couldn't agree more although I don't think it's silly to want to see a happy ending. That said, if they never included one but gave closure to Shepard and her companions, I could live with it if she gets to go out nobly. I mean...do we REALLY think her crew would ever abandon her? I think not.
We live in a world of sorrows and sometimes a happy ending in a game, a place we go to escape the cares of the world, is a good thing. Make it an option, not a requirement.
Additionally, BioWare said it "strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise."
...
Wow, such arrogance... I mean with such a bad feedback they have received from their customers they still fail to admit that it was not good?
After SW:TOR I had already decided to not buy any more titles from Bioware and I am glad I made that decision after this ME 3 DLC and ending fiasco.
That's the thing, ME 3 is worth about 59.50$ of the 60$ box price. Everything but the last 10 minutes is absolutely amazing.
Some truly, truly brilliant work. How everything ties in and everything you did in the first 2 games is mentioned/has relevance/directly related to things in ME3...
But the last 10 minutes are just... so.. bad...
Don't deny yourself 40+ hours of awesome gaming just because of the 10 minutes of absolutely horrible sh!t ending.

Yeah I will probably get it at budget price down the line because I have been told that everything beside the ending is great. Still, like a movie, the ending is make or break it and it seems for this particular media it is breaking it. So I am waiting for budget price before getting it...
It's like would Star Wars still be cool if at the end of "The Return of the Jedi" the only way they had to stop the Emperor was by destroying the Force. The answer to that is no, and Mass Effect is pretty much the same thing anyways.

I think "happy ending" is a bit of a mischaracterization or perhaps just an unfortunate use of words by both sides.
The ending was never gonna be "happy" the earth got raped that's right from the beginning.
What people would like though is some sense that they, as Shepard, are not some stupid space kid's little bitch. That they have some ability to effect an ending ON THEIR TERMS.
That they as a paragon can effect some sort of change for the positive even if its in the face of huge disaster or they as a renegade can shove it in space baby's face and tell them to go to hell.
They don't get that. They get a choice they had no input into. Your character does not get to have any input on WHAT the choices are. They are just given some and made to choose. Forcing me to choose between a poop sunday and a shit sandwhich is not the really a choice.
I want to able to say to that stupid space deliquent, eat the shit yourself.

LOL...but they already did that with the addition of the Star Child. Now they're going to give themselves 3-6 months.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
