Yeah i know its 250 years later and peace has settled amongst the human guilds bla bla bla but..
I would like to see some form of "same" server guild vs guild implemented afterall it is GUILD WARS 2..
I will go one step further and say anet needs to add something like this if it isnt already in the plans lest the game cannot live up to its name as "guild wars" even though the WvWvW is going to be awesome it is not the same thing as battling for guild supremacy on the same server as this is something GW1 did better than any other game imho...
This game seems to have literally everything a player could want or ask for except for its very trademarked namesake...
How can a game that hasn't even been released yet, no one has seen it's final state....how can it "need improvement?" Personally, I'd rather wait until the game is OUT before determining where it needs improvement. Seems like a bit of a no-brainer there to me.
All these things you've all listed, how do you know they aren't working on those things or in some cases have fixed them already? You don't know until the game is released, hence my previous comment.
It's currently in beta. Isn't the purpose of beta to improve on the things that need improving on? OP asked what the game needs as far as improving. Why wait until it's released to address this? There are plenty of videos and info out there now about the game. Why wouldn't people talk about what they'd like to see changed/improved?
And if I was IN the beta and had real knowledge about the state of affairs rather than just assumptions and rumors.....I'd be concerned with it and actually working on it. However, since I'm NOT in the beta, it seems rather useless (to me) to go over and over "issues" which we're not even sure EXIST any more. I'm sorry if that doesn't make sense to you. To me it's just simple.
I LOL'ed @ "less cashop dependant" comment.. A game can't be less cash shop dependant if its not cash shop dependant in the first place. I was going to go into another long explination of how absurd it is to think just because GW2 has a cash shop that it is dependant but I figured its a waste of time. I personally know that my time spent in the game will give me more of an advantage over nearly everyone who uses the cash shop.
Something I want I know is already coming, Personal House and Guild Halls. I love them in LoTro and decorating them with trophies of battle and achievments. It helps some of us have an even deeper connection with our gaming world.
Open your eyes. The game was "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" and in fact they are fine-tuning it right now to ensure cash shop gets plenty of business. One previous posters described it best. It should be called "Guild Wars 2: The online store"
It is an appalling cash shop in my opinion.
Open your eyes, Anet has to keep the lights on somehow, and most of us prefer CS over Sub.
And since the CS doesnt sell advantages other than boosters, there is nothing "appalling" about it at all.
Observer mode is lame imo, if someone wants to learn to PvP, then they should be out there fighting, asking questions, getting involved.
My only concern for GW2 at this point, is how many players WvW can support. I want epic battles.
You should also be concerned about the pay2win aspect of RvRvR if you care about RvRvR...
I've researched the CS, and found no P2W aspects, especially concerning the WvW. Believe me, the day they sell a weapoon or piece of armor that is stronger than anything I can make or find in game, then I'll be the first to leave.
Untill then, I'll be enjoying the WvW, and I'm so glad you wont be there. I wont have time to hold your hand in the WvW, while you complain about getting your arse handed to you, and blaming it all on the CS.
I can hear it now, "OMG, I so would have pwned him if it wasnt for that booster he bought!" ....lol
LOL, you are right. Getting 10% advantages is meaningless. Have fun with your pay2win RvRvR, you won't be seeing me in it though.

I will have tons of fun in the WvW, thank you, I hope you enjoy whatever game you land in. Good bye!
completely agree. I've played true Pay 2 Win games and true Cash shop dependant games and this is far far from that.
As soon as the cash shop offers something I can not purchase with in game gold I will no longer play GW2.
This game does not offer anything that you can not purchase with gold earned in game. It does not require you to use the cash shop to compete with anyone who would want to. As soon as it does I along with anyone with a brain wont play the game. I guess these absurd arguments are being made by people who haven't played true pay 2 win games.
@ RvR comments
This is GW2 its Wolrd vs World vs World =WvW...!! it is not Realm vs Realm / RvRvR so it does not apply to this game.
Increase the difficulty a tad bit more for the beginning areas. ( Force people to learn to start dodging. )The game ramps up complexity and difficulty over the course of the game, which is the way it should be. You don't even have all the layers in place until level 30 and there is a learning curve after that as the game becomes more and more demanding of players. This is as it should be.
Increase the speed of endurance regen just a tad. There are traits that do that. Players should be able to prioritize different aspects of game play, like the ability to dodge, via builds.
Remove the waypoints in the dungeons. No thank you.
Increase the skill set and damage of the veteran mobs. ( Some are easy. Others are just right in the difficulty. )Variety is best, less predictable and gives less skilled players some tough mobs to hone their skills on.
Need to increase the player cap for events. (Not the meta events. Just the normal events. Early into the release the game will be so easy since most will just mob together. Which is a shame even though you can just go in any direction and progress. )I thought the same a month or two, but I have come to realize that increasing the cap would just encourage zergs. Better for most DEs to only be rewarding for non-zerg sized gatherings of players.
Reduce the amount of waypoints to just towns. Not one for every landmark.Absolutely not. You can chose to limit yourself to only using twon waypoints, that's your choice. No need to force your preferences on others.
Tone down the 2 handed weapon damage.
Give a way to do a quick refund of skill points early on. ( Some people will rage once they find out you cannot respec those points. However, you will gain all of the skills points once you hit lvl 80 :P )I'd agree if skill points were only gained via leveling, but all the skill point challenges give players plenty of opportunity to earn enough SP along the way to experiment with skills and make the occassional mistake. Although, some limited ability for an occassional skill refund might be ok.
Cooking is probably the hardest tradeskill to improve. Add more veggy patches and fruit farms. ( Cooking is damn worth it though, sexy buffs.)
Some mobs are knock down heavy in skills. Ex. Ettins, Rock throwing mobs, etc. Increase their damage.
My personal list of things that need improvements. A few more I probably missed but they will most likely have them fixed before the first beta weekend.
One thing I'm a little concerned about is that the placement of the Heart Tasks along the periphery seems to have led some new players astray in the believe that those tasks are all there is for PVE content. Better placement to make it easier for players following the Hearts to stumble accross more DEs would be better. If it's too late to change the zones that way, they need to do a better job communicating to new players that most of the content is out in the world to be found via exploration, rather than limnited to the Heart Tasks. (Even people from the professional gaming press made this mistake).
- difficulty of dynamic events when there are a lot of players. Right now it's wtf I facerolled my keyboard and everything died.
- remove the 3/10 indicators in dynamic events. Totalbisquit was talking about that in one if his videos.
- IMPROVE PERFORMANCE!
- observer mode would be awesome but I can wait a few months after release for implementation.
The problem isn't the indicators. The problem is dynamic events are just chained KILL X/COLLECT Y/FETCH/ESCORT quests. Removing the indicator won't change the fact you are killing 10 rats.
It will. the perception is everything. DE are simple gather/kill quests just masked very nicely and those 0/10 things break this illusion.

I've had my posts deleted by the mods getting into too many details of the cash shop because this site is conforming to the NDA (even though I never signed one), but just do your research on the effects of influence on RvRvR boosts. Then note that you can essentially buy influence via the cash shop (cash->gems->gold->influence).

No worries about that, as it isn't part of the CS and governed by the NDA. It is released info on the wiki. Influence buffs, Influence vendor
You are the first person who seems to be a fan of the game admit to this.
I'll admit to it. I also won't care IF the gameplay and story are fun enough that I they distract me from realizing that I'm killing 10 rats.
Look, there's four major ways todevelop an experience gained system in an MMO. And all MMOs need some form of progression, so experience gain is prety much a necessary evil. Let's look at them.
Option 1: The mob grind
In this method, the primary means of gaining xp is killing monsters. This devolves gameplay into "figure out how to get the most xp/time by killing hordes of monsters quickly and efficiently". This has been the Asian market's go-to method for years, and has been on the decline as they realized it was starting to get dull. Only so many ways you can dress it up.
Option 2: Skill spam
This method revolves around you using your skills to gain xp. You get a little every time you use something, and the skills and/or you level up as you perform them. Skyim is a great example of this. And, much like in Skyrim, this is always HORRIBLY exploitable. You find a method to raise a particular skill easily (who here remembers powerlevelling swimming in EQ by holding a rock on your keyboard or something?) and spam the hell out of it. Not challenging OR fun.
Option 3: Time
EVE, I'm looking at you. Set skill to "raise me please", then wait. First off, watching your skills raise is as fun as watching paint dry. Secondly, this odten means little to no interaction with the game world is necessary to progress. I can't see where this is ever a good idea unless some other mechanic draws you in. EVE manages it, but only if you happen to like EVE.
Option 4: The quest
You perform a task to gain xp. Given the limited set of mechanics in most MMOs, this is going to either be: 1) Go here, get item, comer back; 2) KIll this big baddy; 3) Kill lots of little baddies; 4) Escort this guy (ugh!); 5) Run around grabbing x of item y off corpses/the ground. Pretty much EVERY quest in every MMO is one of these. We all gripe about it.
Here's the thing. ANY of these methods can be awesome IF you dress them in a manner that is so much fun you don't realize or care that all you are doing is killing ten rats, or whatever. The trick isn't to find some hiterto unknown new game mechanic that is better than those four options: It's finding a good disguise on them to make the old new and fun. If GW2's events are dynamic and fast paced and epic like they promise (and many of them look like they might be), then it will work out.
Something I want I know is already coming, Personal House and Guild Halls. I love them in LoTro and decorating them with trophies of battle and achievments. It helps some of us have an even deeper connection with our gaming world.
That's a good example of something they could definitely Improve. Right now your "Home instance" is basically just the Command Post from GW1. ...mostly useless and provides practically no advantage or customization.
Can't believe people are still ranting about the cash shop when in really will never effect them if someone uses it. It really won't..I promise. If it doesn't put you at a disadvantage stop whining about it (Yeah, yeah, influence). If a server has more influence than you and that = auto win then there is a bigger issue. The thing is if you think about it on the grand scale of things unless people want to continuosly pump out money ALL the time it shouldn't really be an issue.
If they want, go for it. It still won't make up for the fact of lack of skill. It's how I see it anyway, and I hate cash shops and F2P games, albiet see GW2 as a bit different than just your standard F2P game.

They need to just drop that buying influence with gold. Much (not all) of this controversy would go away. I would only be annoyed at it not offended by it if they removed these PVP advantages.
GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" 1) Cash->Gems->Gold->Influence->WvWvWBoosts = PAY2WIN 2) Mystic Chests = Crass in-game cash shop advertisements
This. It's one of my biggest concerns. I love the way they look but they're a bit too big.
Also, I doubt they'll change it, but I noticed that it looks quite frustrating to try and AOE large groups of players down in WvW because if all of them don't fall at the same time (and odds are that will rarely if ever happen), then there's at least a few people to get them back up, and I watched a video where it kept happening despite a dedicated Elementalist's best efforts to pummel them to dust from a fortress wall.
I was slightly relieved when the guarding forces drove the opposition back, but it took a long time.
I would be estatic with the removal of Heart Tasks completely. I can see it already the bitching and complaining from the masses who say theres not enough quests or the heart tasks are just like (insert random WoW clone). Heart Tasks reward the chicken littles and unoriginals. The game is focused on exploratative rewards so it should be the only way to advance in PvE.
Other then that some minor gripes I have (or major in the case of this first one):
Let me remap my keys anyway I want to include Ctrl & Shift Modifiers for skills.
Tone down spell effects big time.
Although I disagree with the way that skills are tied to specific weapons I would still liek to see more traditional skills that can replace the weapon specific skills or some sort of Alternate Advancement system to keep me progressing post level cap.

LOL, you are right. Getting 10% advantages is meaningless. Have fun with your pay2win RvRvR, you won't be seeing me in it though.

I've got the straight edge.
LOL, I know I am. Someone getting to level 80, 10% faster than me is just intolerable...HAHAHA!!!

Seriously the term isn't that hard to learn.

It will. the perception is everything. DE are simple gather/kill quests just masked very nicely and those 0/10 things break this illusion.
LOL you clearly don't know what I am referring to. I am talking about actual 10% advantages not the EXP boosts. Do your research or prepare to be very disappointed at the pay2win aspects of RvRvR.

What 10% boosts? I've been amused by all the fans defending the cs where in other games they would have been trashing them, but I've not seen anything about what you are talking about. Can you give examples/specifics?
You are the first person who seems to be a fan of the game admit to this.

GW2 without cash shop = definately improvement for me ^^
No worries about that, as it isn't part of the CS and governed by the NDA. It is released info on the wiki. Influence buffs, Influence vendor
My brand new bloggity blog.
- Observer mode for e-sport arenas
- PERFORMANCE improvements
- less cash shop dependancy (in example throw out boxes unlocked through store keys even if they also drop in game & things like that)
I will let you know after I play the game.
You don't get it.
They need to just drop that buying influence with gold. Much (not all) of this controversy would go away. I would only be annoyed at it not offended by it if they removed these PVP advantages.
