On the Beta Community
By far, I have to say this has been the most inmature, troll ridden community of any beta I have ever played. I saw several gems of people by their decency, but just like gems, these were rare finds.
What is with the communities lately. Its as if they were rejects from the memebase forums...
I sincerely hope it was only a beta issue and that these people hate the game enough to not subscribe to it, but in the odd case that it is what the future of mmo gaming looks like, I will try to seek refuge in an RP server in hopes of a little more maturity.

one word KIDS, just sad their parents arent doing their job, the stuff that they spam on the area chat shows their upbringing.
Honestly , an open beta that hands keys out like candy (yes it was closed beta but gamespot to others made it where anyone could get a key so might as well call it open ) , brings out a crowd that does nothing but play those to troll.
I've learned to just use the block/ignore feature for the ones who spam chat , and just be amused slightly at the sad life of those who just troll from game to game for free as they can't afford to play a game they actually enjoy.

I take it you haven't played along with the EU betas too? I played both EU and NA. I found the NA area chat and in-game community particularly bad.
Area chat in the Isle of Dawn should be closed off, if one wishes to preserve sanity. NA area chat after that settled nicely and people were very helpful on the server I was on (Serpentis Isle...PvE).
I've made it a rule never to roll on a PvP server and always RP if available.
Unfortunately, it's something that comes with the territory of "FREE" beta access. I've seen it happen to a lot of games that give early beta access by handing out beta keys on random sites.
I'm at the point where I disregard free beta keys unless it's a game I'm ABSOLUTELY 100% interested in already, because I know I can expect the beta community to act like a bunch of poo-flinging monkeys.
It would be easy to say, "don't let the 'free beta' community affect your opinion of the game itself", but it's difficult to look past that sort of behavior for various reasons. It's like driving past a horrible car accident and trying to avoid looking at it briefly to determine what happened.

yea am sure glad it's pay to play, therefore u need some form of credit payment to sub.
@OP, I always tabbed out of general chat and I agree with those above that this is more a beta issue, to a degree. I think after launch it will be better than most but I'm also rolling on an RP server. From EME's post about the RP server general chat it will be kept in line. I hope they honor it.

Yes I looked at chat for a few seconds and turned away in horror and disgust, once it goes to pay to play the kids will all go away
Yeah NA was pretty rauchy to say the least, freebee nubs I guess. I do find that RP servers tend to be more mature unfortunately there will be no full RPPvP server, so that might keep me out.
Also its not about a persons age that determines maturity.

It was very easy to get beta invites.
It was particularly only a problem in the starter area and capitol city. The higher level zones had no trolling at all.
This will still be a problem in open beta but will disappear when the game releases.
Whats really amazing is that people thought it was worth their time time to download a 25GB game then troll relentlessly for hours.
Some of the players on Friday Night were getting disgruntled because the GM's kept having to warn them. Several logged off because they felt that being told not talk about their body parts in a public forum was draconian.

And agree. Pretty much, getting beyond the tutorial area, the trolling wold vanish. Higher level areas it didn't exist.

I noticed some people (if you could call them that) stayed forever level 1. I would roll a second class on that server or come back to the Isle as a higher level and I could still spot the same names. Basically trolling chat. That was their way of fun
Turning off area/gen chat is the first thing I do when I start playing an MMO.
is very easy to get into the beta, so anyone can get in basically. that usually attracts the worse kind of people, including some of the worse trolls and haters.
once the game releases, i expect most of this people to be gone. since i doubt they intend to subscribe.
i've met some very cool people in the previous betas.
Yeah area chat is full of non-sense. I generally just switch to combat channel and stay there.
Oh and I love how everyone feels the need to call me names after I kill them or are killed by them...people just take games way to seriously sometimes haha.
Unfortunately, using the block/ignore feature would have left 2 or 3 people left in chat. It was horrible. Most rather talk about there private parts, then play the game it seemed. Closed beta 4 and 5 I just made the combat tab the active tab so I wouldnt see the nonsense.
You know how many times I heard things like "so I hear WoW was the first MMO, true or false?" or "I always herp before I derp". Yea this game was like Barrens Chat on steroids. Promptly uninstalled and I pity the community of this game TBH.

You should be pittying all the other games out there coz majorty of them came from there just to troll Tera.
The people getting on were pretty much horrible, scared away lots of players and pissed just as many off. That's what is glorious about P2P...they will disappear back to their pay to win games. If any remain they will be quickly put into that box in the corner called "ignore" The real TERA community will set them straight.
The irony is that they were there because it was beta and free. Once the game releases there will still be a few, what game doesn't, but it won't be the horror show that was there during beta. Care to guess where they will be going next?... and once there they won't have to leave...
I honestly hope each and every "general troll" gets banned but I will still feel sorry for that community.

True because you can't call the Beta community the real game community because of all the free beta keys and lot of people don't play more than 1 or 2 beta so they don't burn out on the game.
GM is pretty nice =P on SAT during event the gm purposely spam stuff on our guild lol coz ours and other were the only 2 large guild that went with liek 20-30 people. So he kept dropping stuff on us XD and he dropped thsi 58 BAM on the other guild coz they were pking everyone so it wiped them out completely. Great timing too coz we were just about to engage them and when we went in there was only liek 5 people left alive lol =X Also my friend trolled the GM a bit =P but he left it slide XD
if you think the Tera community is bad. just wait untill you get to play GW2. F2P usually brings the worse people .
Tera closed betas is basically free to play atm. once the game releases, is gonna be P2P so i assure you most of the trolls will be long gone, and they all gonna be busy trolling, flaming, and playing GW2 instead!p

GW2 is probably packed with trolls like you, so i think i will pass thank you!p
