1) Hasn't this 1.2 legacy system been beaten into the ground? Who cares if you can make your other chars siblings? I get it, it's for roleplayers, that's great but really pretty uninspiring. Nothing real ground breaking going on here..you can be blue skinned people as jedi now..cool.
2) they are basically removing race/class restrictings purchasable with legacy points...again..really uninspiring, really only a big deal if you are a roleplayer.
3) Lastly I'm not so sure I would claim 'things have been ticking along nicely' for ToR...logged into the servers lately?
Surely it penalises role players as they would need to keep the family tree pure, ie they couldn't have the different races related as it would screw up the RP side.
The family tree doesnt necessary need to be a 'family', theres options for adopted children, allies, and even adverseries etc (as well as all the other standard parent/children/brother/sister/etc stuff).
Is it just me or does the legacy system sound reallly... boring. I mean it is mostly fluff, race/class combos which does not affect anything functional, just looks and emotes. Skills on 20 min timer and only with companion out which makes it useless in PvP. A complete waste if you ask me.
New warzone and op. does sound interesting and also the new PvP ranking system, but I would have preferred them fixing Illum instead. But atleast these three will add something useful to the game, unlike the legacy system which seems useless to me.

The above opinion is an example of why you never take seriously what you read in these forums. Yes, Legacy may be pointless to the above poster. However, to many, it will be a much appreciated addition to the PVE side of the game. Not everyone that plays MMO's .... and here's the shocker.....plays PVP. So, you can hate on anything you want and come to the forums and whine and moan about it all you can....just remember dear reader that they are doing so because they want THIER's and don't care about YOURS.

Yeah adds one more PVE raid to be rolled over in a week and farmed for the next 3-6 months. And a flashpoint there is no point in doing more than once.
And legacy has 0 gameplay changes (cept for gate cooldown reduction) and leveling crap. Meh
I guess we'll see if 1.2 has the "endgame" required to keep subs (including mine).
Ugh. Too little, too late for me. Since I quit back in early March I haven't been following as much, and they STILL haven't got 1.2 out? I mean, how much do they freaking need to talk about it? How many "free weekends" are they gonna give? None of these additions matter if the world is cold and dead (which is why I left).
Honestly, I'm enjoying SWTOR to the fullest. I have a community that keeps things fresh and interesting every step of the way. I have noticed a lot of the people who complain that they are leaving the game either did not belong to part of a competent group/community able to run things beyond the basics or they think everything should be spoon fed to them and not have to earn up to anything.
SWTOR has its rough edges there is no doubt on that; however, I do feel that 1.2 will have some of the stuff that players are craving. Legacy system, yes this has been beaten into the ground by every website out there but everyone needs to remember that this is just a small thing of what is yet to come. World of Warcraft, Rift, Asheron's Call, Everquest and every other great game didn't get developed over night and everyone fell in love with them eventually down the road. (Actually Asheron's Call and Everquest being in the pre-golden era of MMO's where fantastic games with lost of stuff to do pretty early on.)
So every troll that sees SWTOR in the tag somewhere and feels the need to just come around and try to talk crap on it. Go ahead, the numbers you see do not lie the game has lost population and subscription. You however are not missed and I hope you enjoy sitting around not playing a game while waiting on "the next bg game" (thats going to flop just as hard with all these demands the gamer populations put on developers now days).
Sorry - there's NOTHING being added to SWTOR now that does anything to improve a piss-poor excuse for an MMO. It took them HOW MANY MONTHS to come up with this crap? The only way SWTOR will ever get better is if EA/Bioware sells it to someone who knows what they're doing.
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.

Instead of going on with the usual "hater" nonsense maybe you can tell me exactly why this legacy thing will add to PvE?
Because taskforce and flashpoint, as I mentioned, actually will add something substantial. But I dont see anything in this legacy thing which is useful, exept for roleplayers. Because I have said exactly why I think this wont add much to the game where as you have said nothing of substance.
It'll add extra CC to PvE, something every class can do with. Other than that it's just cosmetics and certainly not enough to keep me playing. The only thing that would have is if they'd overhauled Ilim instead of this leaving it a barren afterthought, an extra warzone just doesn't cut it especially when more same faction vs same faction is introduced.
For me the novelty of it being star wars kept me playing much longer than i would have in any other game and i don't see one thing in the 1.2 patch that could convince me to resub at the middle of this month. I already have 5 50's so the legacy system is useless to me other than the group buffs, i love open world objective PvP but the failure that is ilum is closed for business with no improvements on the horizon in this patch or even a guesstimate of time scale, the warzones were fun for a while but the same 3 (now to be 4) over and over and over can wear on anyone's nerves.. if i just wanted set maps i could play countless other games that give 10-20+ maps for matches.

It is intresting that you can sit here and insult people in all sorts of ways, and at the same time call about 70-80% od the people that bought the game, tried it for a long time and found it lacking "Trolls". That is a LOT of people you call trolls. but you think of yourself as what, the lost member of the carebears? Serriously. You like it. says a lot more about you, than the tons of people disappointed.
And you got that 70-80% from where? From your imagination or what?? It is cool game and for sure one of the best we have today

This is exactly how I feel and have felt - the complete and utter disregard by the devs for Ilum has been the final straw for me. I don't want 1 more WZ, as you said Wzs over and over and over to infinite gets old fairly quickly. I could careless about cosmetic stuff, certainly I have no problem with it being added, but my god could they have prioritized things a little better?
Like i said before SWTOR need little time and Bioware is awesome team, we can see in future this game on the top. Sure it is not for everyone but many players will find safe heaven in this game. After people get bored with some new ''shooter like mmo's'' they weill return back to classic style.
All of this stuff should have been in at launch. It reeks of the game being pushed out to meet the holiday 2011 deadline before various basic features were complete.

People can be added into the legacy as allies or rivals, thus they can be included into their legacy without having to actually relate them to all your characters. Also children can be labeled adopted giving a person another means to add someone to the legacy without actually having to 'relate' them to it.
How do midichlorians pass from adoptive Jedi dad to smuggler son
You DON'T want to know.
"Gypsies, tramps, and thieves, we were called by the Admin of the site . . . "
Speak for yourself, I am looking forward to playing Chiss force users on both factions. Just because it doesn't interest you doesn't mean it only interests children and roleplayers. I'm neither, and I'm looking forward to it. The people I play with are looking forward to unlocking species for different classes and the opposite faction too. It's a game, you're not supposed to be taking it super seriously, you're supposed to be playing for fun and this system is "for fun".
Why? Seriously...Not trying to be condecending -but if your not a child or a roleplayer what difference the races in this game which are essentially all the EXACT same except for their skin color and a few VERY VERY minor tweaks (horns, tattoos) would make to you I can't wrap my head around.
I just don't see the motivation. As I said, if they had added unique races that were actually unique, not just different colored humans I could see the intrsts (who woulden't want a Wookie smuggler or Ewok Jedi) but the system to be implemented just seems...well..underwhelming to say the least.
A friend of mine wants a Sith Pureblood jedi. If that interests her more power to her. Creative people tend to like being somewhat unique. For myself, different races do not interest me. Execution not creativity tends to be my strong point. My human is 50 and I get a nice presence bonus for my dailies from the legacy system.
I am mostly interested in the WZ and Raid thou. Video games are meant to be fun, I can not see wasting time being bitter over a video game. Life is too short to waste time being bitter. There are always tons of things to do from playing sports to volunteering to help other people. You would be surprised at how rough life can be for a lot of people.
1.2 looked good at first kinda but now just seems kinda lame. Some of the nerfs coming seems kinda overdone too kick a population when its going down thats real smart,
The UI to me is the best part. I'm more looking forward to something I read where they will be working to make the world feel more alive. Regardless, Im enjoying myself though I admit lately Ive had little time for gaming :-)

Funny you'll get a nice little pres buff which you cant use in the two things you're most interested in...
We're bitter cause we spent our money paying for the hallow promises of EA owned BW. Hell i still sub but haven't logged in for more than 10minutes in a month waiting to see if 1.2 will be a blessing or a curse.
This game has shit for content hidden behind falsely large worlds and poor stories. Not to mention this game is the bane of roleplaying but...
*edit* and as for the CC to PVE comment, maybe doing your dailies but to the rest of the game (aka the MMO part) legacy system offers.. nothing. It actually promotes not filling your groups which is a big FU to MMO players.
People dont understand, that bioware isnt aiming at the same crowd of the WoW grind fest. Anyone who bought this game and doesnt like it, or trashes it simply can't appreciate going outside of the box. Biowares playerbase is making a substantial profit, and at the same time, giving people the quality that bioware delivers. Im highly enjoying swtor, and can see the potential this game has. Whether or not these features should have been in launch, they are coming now, and the only thing we can be is welcoming for them.

Bioware certainly don't like people going outside the box, that's why there are funnels.
Currently the playerbase is making some substantial income, dropping but still substantial, it is a way from turning profitable yet.

For me, people tend to get dragged down by trivial junk. The man in the corner office a few offices down from mine bought his trophy wife a $100,000 car for her birthday, while the bum at the gas station begs for a few dollars so he can have food for the night. People loose track of what is really important.
Video games should be a form of entertainment. If SWToR does not interest you, move on. There are tons of things to do in this life. Heck, there are even tons of other MMOs. Spending life being bitter is a terrible way to live.
For myself, I will play SWToR with friends and family as long as the game remains fun. 1.2 adds enough fun elements that we will continue playing.
Wow grindfest? Like doing dailies for weeks to get a subpar item? Or farming the same crap over and over to get meh looking gear? Or do you mean the stories? The ones that make up 10% of the crap you do while the rest remains the same? Crafting maybe? Hands off grinding mats to make the same item 500 times in the hopes you get a purple?
I dont even like WOW and i think you're retarded.
But hey atleast end game isn't a grind you can gear any new player in one raid. So much for incentive. Funny part is half you fanbois will be crying the blues when you cant pug the new op.
Way to put your blinders on.
@cat If i pay my money for something i have a right to my opinion on it. My whole life isn't bitter just the portions of it dealing with this misadvertised crappy game. It's not an MMO or an RPG. Its a Co-op single player game that has worse story than any of the other BW games minus ME3. Single player story shouldn't be a tradeoff for overall game story.

You forgot to mention another important aspect of the patch!
Higher Res textures on player characters will FINALLY come with patch 1.2 !
Or did they rolled it back again?? o.0
