309 - 314 players online on Telon

StonesDKStonesDK Member UncommonPosts: 1,805

Just for shits and giggles I've decided to do a headcount twice a day for the remaining of the week. One for European prime time and one for US prime time. Kind of pointless since everybody is waiting for it to go F2P but since I haven't done it in a while I'll just do it for the heck of it once more

Wednsday

18:00 CET (EU) - 180 people on

It will be interesting to see

My guesstimate is around 1200 - 1500 people max

Are you trying to dissuade people from playing or?

Because you chose the server that even Vanguard fans call "dead" for your thread title.

  • ArkiniaArkinia Member Posts: 251

CNN Games has 12000 players playing checkers. Go figure!

Telon is the US server with most people on. Halgar is the EU server with less than 5 people on (no I'm not exaggerating) and to answer your question. I'm just posting a headcount. If that somehow upsets you then tough shit?

On a more interesting note. Most older games have a barren and non existant low level population, being top heavy only. VG is the opposite in that aspect. The times I have taken headcounts last year and this year shows a re-occuring trend.

    These are give or take

    Around 40% are players between 1 - 25

    Around 10% are players between 26 - 45

    Around 40 % are players between 46 and 55

While Vanguard is still top heavy the game is pretty "full" at lower levels which is good news for new players. I recommend you take your time and level slooooooooow to continually have people to play with, or the alternative and rush to endgame where the rest of the population is at

My bad, I had the two servers mixed up in my head. As for your attitude, there's really no need for it. It's a legitimate question, as it does seem that you do have an angle to this. Otherwise the title would reflect something along the lines of "Population count of Vanguard", as opposed to something that obviously is going to attract negative attention.

Hopefully when it goes F2P you highlight the opposite spectrum in an equally biased light.

Just for reference...when I tried it out a year ago...there were 18 people online?

Seems like things are looking at least a little up for Vanguard players!

It's only going to have a negative response if it upsets people. I'm not upset and neither should anybody else be.

    I apologize for the attitude.

It's all just numbers. It doesn't tell anybody they should stop playing or that the game sucks. The numbers are there wether I post them or not that's not going to change. If somebody feel the need to question my motives or be upset, they are directing their anger in the wrong direction. It won't make the numbers go up

Another reason for posting a headcount is the news of F2P and the return of the developers working on content. To see if that has made a mark on the population.

Wednsday - Last count for the day when the server is at its peak

    image

Wednsdays count ends with 309 people online at 9.30 pm EST (US)

Good news about that is, it's a moderate increase compared to 6 months ago where there would only be 200~ people on at this hour on a weekday. It will be more interesting to see the Saturday population where Vanguard is at it peak throughout the week

  • Delerious1Delerious1 Member Posts: 72

Vanguard is one of those games that had so much potential.  I played the game from day 1 and only lasted maybe 2 weeks before I couldn't deal with it's poor performance any longer.

That said I hear it has had some improvements and most people are rocking significantly more powerful computers nowadays.

I still remember being awed by the scale of the game and the beautiful scenery.  The sky in particular was gorgeous.

When Vanguard goes f2p I will most definitely be logging in.

Actually last couple times I was on Halgar I counted around 10 people (EU prime time, mind - if you log on at different times, you might have the server for you alone).

  • GaxusnGaxusn Member UncommonPosts: 77

Halgar is deserted. I still don't understand why they keep the server running. Even when the game goes F2P, I don't think many EU players will bother to transfer to Halgar since there is a large EU population on the US server.

I hope to see 1 server for Vanguard once it goes F2P. Its what it needs. There would be hundreds of players at all different level brackets and this game is so much fun when grouping, population is a must. I think they would shoot themselves in the foot if they allow more than 2 servers max.

Least we no longer have to worry about the game being shut down now for a good few years.

As these shots are taken on IOD they are completely inaccurate. You do not get the hole server population from IOD,

I dont know what the problem with these types of posts i spent about 10 minutes last night doing 1-5, 5-10 /whos last night and i got more than 40 results for every 5 lvl range al the way up to 50-55 so that tells me right off that your count is inaccurate. i would say 300+ people on IOD is pretty dam good.

Besides that this game had more content day 1 than just about all the past 5 years of released MMOS combined. Granted when VG launched you couldnt hardly play for the bugs and performance issues but the content was there. There is very little END GAME for the elite players to grind i guess but all the people i see on these forums complaing about OOO there isnt any good MMOS out anymore all the OLD mmos were better etc. Well the good news is FTP came to VG and the Elite dont like it because they get an influx of "kids" that ruin there nice raiding ... group?

You know i could care less if they open a cash shop and sell UBER SWORDS OF DOOM or potions that INSTANTLY LVL 50 your toon, as long as i can do like the other day be just doing my own thing and run into a group of players in FAllen Lyceum ( a high teen group dungeon ) mentour down and spend the next 2 hours or so just getting my ass handed to me by lvl 18 mobs loose more xp than gain but accomplish the mission finally i could care less what they sell in the shop as long as i can pay myt sub and have fun.

There is so much 1-50 content in this game you would be hard pressed ( or OCD) to get it all done in a year, and now that sony is putting some lovin on it people bitch .. you just cant win.

You can do a /who count all anywhere. Even on IoD. It counts the whole server. Normally the server is congested at the 200 cap. But if you do a /who count 1 50 all, then follow up with /who count 51 55 all then you can circumvent the 200 cap and get a precise number

There's nothing inaccurate about it. Feel free to try for yourself

If you honestly think there was 300 people on IoD then I have to laugh a little. I'm sorry

The trick is adding 'all' at the end of the command, otherwise you only get the chunk you are standing in.

Incidentally I did check the population on IoD last night but didn't bother taking a SS of it. there were 51 players

But you can keep on calling me a liar if you want. Making a trial account and checking the numbers is something that's available to anybody who doubt me. Here are the commands

    /who count all 1 50

    /who count all 51 55

Should it by some miracle be congested with over 200 on either counts then change the paramiters of the levels. If you by some chance think the commands doesn't count for /anonymous or that it's only in that chunk alone. Change the parimeters .. do a /who count all 35 36 .. you will most likely get a list with peoples locations since the number will be relatively small

  • TeikkTeikk Member Posts: 70

yes i know this the command is is /who all 1-5 and if you get more than 40 results it will tell you that you need to narrow your search. Man i got more than 40 results for 1-2 your numbers are off.

    You are doing it wrong

    It's not /who all .. it's /who count all

    no wonder you are confused

If you have time right now then log into the game and write the commands i showed 2 posts above.. then come back and report it. Exactly as written

  • TeikkTeikk Member Posts: 70

to dispute you with evidence i just did your /who count all i got 157 players BUT WAIT i did it my way and got allot more than that and this is NOT PEAK TIME

    imageimageimageimageimageimageimage

    i did 50-54 to

Yes i know there is a couple of overlaping numbers for say 1-10 and 10-20 it shows the 10s 2 times but that still pummels the first number i got from doing the /who count all command

there are more than 40 players just at lvl 55 AT THIS MOMENT your nubers are wrong

Sounds like you just count the same people multiple times. It's a common mistake

    @ Starpower

While I sympathize with your truthfulness and your wish to stick to the facts, I don't really understand the purpose of these posts. We all know VG's pop is abysmally low. Who cares whether there are 150 or 300 players online? The game was obviously designed for many times those numbers, so the current situation is a failure no matter how you look at it.

Lying about a pop boom is of course never the way to go, but I don't see the need to rub the low numbers in either. VG's population will probably not grow very much until f2p anyway, so unless statistics is your idea of fun I can't really see the use of these detailed accounts.

    Peace.

I care for one. I love Vanguard and curious to see if they are actually lying to push for more people to come join or if there is an actual increase

So far I'm actually seeing an increase. On a normal weekday numbers haven't reached 300 in a long time. It has been around the 200 give or take a few for the better part of a year. Even lower during those months after SWTORs release. If by this weekend numbers rise to about 500 then I for one will be stoked. It will show a positive trend

Also bear in mind the changes made to VG. It no longer has the capacity for several thousand players. Specific, very desired quest lines, simply can't hold up to many people waiting in line to do them without causing a bottleneck effect nobody wants. Hunters League for instance. If the server can retain 800 people then the game has enough people on one server to keep everybody happy. It doesn't take much

The fact it's counter productive to lie to a potential new subscriber telling them the server is booming, is just a very small part of it

  • TeikkTeikk Member Posts: 70

pictures dont lie, just look at them to know that your numbers are wrong
