NCSoft waiting to sue after release?

MeltdownMeltdown Member UncommonPosts: 1,183

I don't know if anyone else is concerned about this, but I haven't seen any news yet of a NCSoft lawsuit against TERA in NA. I am slightly concerned that NCSoft is waiting for TERA to release, then slam them in court as hard as possible and try to get them shutdown. I want to pre-order, but it looks suspicious...

It doesn't work like that. They have no power to shut the game down especially after release, if anything their only chance was before release. Besides It didn't work in Korea for starters, they hold no power to get the game shutdown, maybe get some money from BHS, but that is at best.

If they didn't make a huge push before release then they would have no point in making one after release because it is even less likely to get the game shut down due to all the technical issues of dealing with all the people who have payed for the game and are playing it.

Maybe, or maybe they have just settled in silence...

The whole thing is kinda embarassing for both NC soft and EM, particularly since EM just bought the licensing rights, they themselves didn't actually do anything wrong. Hopefully will the whole business be settled in South Korea as it should.

They sued a day after the NA release date was announced. No info since then, I assume both parties are not commenting on a running trial.

Ah perhaps they have settled silently then. Just speculation anyways.
