And the devs watching each other very closely to pick the best time to go for just a wee bit more.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

I made a few posts the other day about this. NCsoft testing the waters. It's troubling to me.

    It's not max level gear.

The weapon is NOT pay2win, but I still don't like it. I never like when gear is introduced into item malls, especially when it's higher teir gear. Max level in Aion at the moment is 55, and it's about to be 60. That weapon is not that great, especially when compared to the all-mighty Miragent's Weapon (as it attributes stat bonuses that make it easily the best set of gear from 50-55 not including the better PvP gear, and even then for some classes it's better). Make no mistake, its a very pretty weapon (all of the Tahabata stuff is sexy) and it's very good, but it's not good enough to be considered selling power considering by level 53 you'll be running into lower grade gear that's comparable stat-wise, if not better.

Really what NCSoft is doing is selling weapons people are probably never going to get or care about again. With 50 being far from the cap now, it's unlikely you'll see many people running that particular instance (it's difficult and with easier and better gear available, no longer worth the effort) and I'm sure they realize that. However, as I said earlier, I still don't like it. I think it sets a bad precedent and as someone mentioned, it "tests the waters."

    End verdict: not p2w.....yet.

This was a limited time, promotion.  Who cares if they sell gear that is 10 levels below the max?  The whole PURPOSE of Cash Shop is to make the game easier and more enjoyable for people who want to spend the real money on it.

The end-game "I want to be better than you because I spent more time playing the game" is still right there...

I'd like to point out that that was a promotion for people who wanted to pre-order the C.U.B.E. That is no longer available. Most people didnt even buy into it. Those that did were either twinking at 50, or just wanted a better weapon, or maybe even just wanted to sell the skin. Nothing "win" about that weapon. maybe back in 1.5 that would've been pay2win, but now? when the level cap is 60? ...Not even close to win.

MMO's are the ark of the gaming world. Let it take us in new directions.

Yep, pay to win... in 1.0 maybe. Now it is a leveling weapon at best.

    Try harder.
