Ive not seen much info on this. I love the combat and really think it has a good system but what are the developers aims with pvp. Are there battlegrounds?
i see there is a ranking system?...is there any ideas on how this will work.
Finally is there anything else to add with regards to pvp?
I think this game could be the darkhorse for me this year and probably others. I also think that fortunately due to bigger titles...TSW and GW2 i think it may do fairly well due to not being in the spotlight so much.
Anyway a little help on the pvp would be good.

They are wanting to implement server vs server PvP i understand
The vanarch system, guilds control the provinces (parts of the map) so guilds will be fighting to take control of the map, guilds can also declare war on each other.
Yes it has battlegrounds but they wont be in at launch u believe.
Thats it i think.
not being funny here but with such a good combat system and i have to say im pretty impressed for sure wouldnt you rather get as much pvp going as poss and put a high emphasis on how good it is with as many elements and different variations as possible?
Ill still buy this game but non tab targeting is just far more skillful and fresh in comparison to what im used to.
I really hope they pack out the pvp enough.
There is going to be server vs server. There are also battlegrounds as well, but the open world is ridiculously fun. They have pvp gear as well. The one negative is level scaling is horrid. But lvling up is not that hard by then end of head start all will be max lvl "32" and then the game begins. The max lvl at release is 60. Try it out if you havent, but i'll be the first to say it's a pvp game. If you don't like pvp save your money for TSW. I love pvp and pre ordered after beta 1. If you have any questions goto youtube. The game has been out for 1 year in korea already. Anything you need answered is in video form there.
Thats good enough for me to be honest. I started dabbling last night but wanted to find out more today, especially about pvp. Whilst i do like PVE i do want a mix of PVP.
Sounds good.
PVP At launch
- Duels , PK, Guild Vs Guild, Deathmatches (all different kind of Owpvp no rewards save bragging rights)
- Battlegrounds (NOT until Late Summer 2012)
- Rated battlegrounds to become Vanarch in one of the 2 special provinces (again not until Late Summer 2012)
In the far future the developers promised they will introduce Server vs Server invasions
I wish there was nothing but open world pvp. Shit would be so cash.
Rejoyce then Tera at launch will have at least 4 months (may, june, july, august) with nothing but open world pvp.
Another PvP related note is EME getting Guild vs. Guild to the PvE servers.
Doesn't each province have a Vanarch? There is also ways to become an Exarch of all Arborea (or maybe one Exarch per continent which is where the "two" came from.
Just not worth my time anymore.
Vanarch for each province and 3 Exarch. One for the first contient and as you see the second contient is split in 2 so there is 2 Exarch there.
I personally like organized pvp more because my computer can't handle massive pvp, so i mean pvp where you see people or pvp where you only see red names its pretty obvious i pick the one where i can do shit XD but the atmophere the massive open world pvp create for the guild is great.
Thanks for the info. In the research I did it costs 30m to put yourself on the ballot for Vanarch . I can't imagine how much it costs for Exarch. Between keeping guild ranks up, Nexus overland raids, dungeons of course and later this summer battlegrounds there seems to be a good amount of endgame content.
I would still like to see mob scaling at 60 with some type of AA system but I won't hold my breath lol.
Just not worth my time anymore.
So, there is true Open-PvP in TERA right from the start? By "true" I mean I can go ahead and attack whoever I like to?
I guess starting zones, cities and villages will be safe zones even on PvP servers?
Pretty much, at lvl 11 (when you leave the starting zone) you go to the first main city and there is a quest you get a skill call declaring of out law, once you use it you can attack anyone beside guild/party outside of towns and certain safe zone (usualy quest hobs) The effect goes away 60s after your out of combat, however there is like no cd on the skill so you can pretty much put it back on. If you kill people 6+ lvl below you you gain infamy which put you in a perm pk state till its gone.
Okay and I can like hide behind a rock, activate it and go at a player without him expecting an attack, right?
Does a PK state have benefits, like access to "pirate" villages or something?
No benefits.
