Global Cooldown

johnnychangsjohnnychangs Member UncommonPosts: 261

Is it me or does the Global Cooldown for all abiliites seem a bit wierd?  I mean, if I'm trying to pop 3x 5-10 second "instant cast" buffs before an encounter, I have to wait an extra couple seconds just because of the cooldown in betweeen each ability.

Just seems a bit much, can't imagine how aggrivating it could be in PvP.

which class and skills are you talking about? I know that some skill cooldowns are linked, but there isn't a global cooldown.

    Assassin

What I mean by global cooldown, is when you click or press an ability, there's a clockwise  icon graphic that greys out all abilities for a very short time, preventing you from clicking or using other abilities until the icons 'light up" again.

Usually the skills that share those cooldowns are the ones that are linked with it, like chain skills and similar skills to it. I haven't actually noticed that on any of my buffs yet so I'm not sure.

Aion uses the animation as the global cooldown. the extra little bit that you feel you have to wait is for the animation to run it's course. with some animation  they also root you to the spot. you can feel this a lot more with melee classes then with casters, simply because other (western) mmos use a different method where movement, animation and global cooldown are all separate from eachother. eastern mmos like Aion dont, they remove the global cooldwon and use animations instead. in Aion until the time for the animation is finished your next "skill" wont activate no matter how fast you press that button.

in fact one of the favourite hacks that people used in Aion are 3rd party program that either speed up or bypass the animation altogether. this basically allowes you to complete more of your abilites in less time vastly increasing your dps, as well as giving you the ability to move a lot more since you are besically bypassing "rooting" effect of the animation. more then a few people have been banned in the past for using such programs.

The one class I've never played. Sorry I can't be any help.

    ^ This.

Though if you play Ranger, you can jumpshot which will allow you to use your abilities without playing their animations. This will make the jumping animation your "cooldown," but at least you'll still be able to keep moving.

well ok if u mean the animation then u are kinda still low lvl..a sin on higher lvls has alot more atk speed which reduces the animation significantly.
