I'm sure they have precise date on betas and for release too, but keep them unknown until the end to be able to switch if anything goes wrong or need a more polish/corrections. Maybe like they've programmed to do the beta on 20th but by the results of the stress test needed to postpone to 27th. ( one thought )

Not sure about NCSoft, but definitely with Anet. If you want access to the betas you need to at least register with Anet. Once you register you will get an email with the following info:
Congratulations on successfully completing the registration process for Guild Wars 2!
The game client will be available shortly; we will send you an e-mail with a download link.

If you have any questions, easiest thing is just to email NCSoft and/or Anet customer service people. I found them to be very helpful and prompt in their correspondance.
Developer says end of the month = expect it early next month.
If nothing else you wont be disappointed but pleasently surprised if it is scheduled earlier.
The sad truth about game devs. They say release this summer. Expect it to see on the very last day of summer 5 minutes before midnight. So I guess we will get beta weekend at the very last weekend of april.
Is anyone aware that the last beta was on the 3rd week of March? It was from 23rd to the 25th of march. Its all over the internet and all the videos were released a day later on the 24th by select media. Secondly why would some retailers leak 20th april as the first beta if they wernt told by Anet that that is when it is planned. And finaly next weekend is the GW 7th aniversary. 28th April, why would they have a aneversary celebration and GW2 beta event. I dont think anyone would coz instead of celebrating you would need to watch status of servers fix issues that appear. Not a way to celebrate IMO. So yeah im still saying beta on the 20th April.
As i said id try to look for sources to my previous statements. I havent found any but i remember where i got the info that the beta is on the 20th. Certain retailers stated that if you prepurchase the game you will be invited in all beta events including the one on the 20th april. I am not gona look through retailers to find where i read that. But if you want to feel free to. On another note as last post on page 1 says. The last weekend is the 7th year aniversary of GW. There is no way they are gona hold GW2 beta even thant weekend. So im gona go and say 100% sure is on the 20th. On another note on the 7th year aniversay they just might announce the release date. Got my hopes up for that. xD

I would give them till wednesday/thursday, if there is no word of a beta by then it's more than likely going to be the next week. I imagine it might be this weekend but theres not really any info to say it will be so it's all speculation.
I think the announcement should be by the end of tuesday if its going to happen.. but that not based off anything solid.. just deduction.
Agreed, if they aren't sending anything by then, I cant see how they get this weekend setup in time. If that's the case then Anet will be under a lot of pressure now since there will be a firm expectation on the friday after.

They will have it when they have it. I am sure that they would love to have their '1st beta' coincide with the 7th anniversary of GW but I think they will make the decision based on the past tests and what they have on the servers for client release.
They would do themselves more harm than good to have folks 'pop round' for a beta with substandard performance going on (not that it is, I am just throwing out an example) rather than waiting an extra week to plug a few holes (if they were big enough to warrant it)
