Hello.
I have posting here for a few a years now and I am beginning to notice a lot of negativity on the forums. (Wait! don't flame me I am beeing ironic!) In an attempt to alliveiate this (Very possibly not very well) This Idear just popped into my head.
How about some kind of awards which celebrate some of the best forum posts, topics, and posters of the past year?
Over time I have got a lot of enjoyment out of posting here, have seen a lot of great posts, some hysterical, some that have made me loose faith in humanity as a whole and some really great opinions or discusions that have opened my eyes to many things I wouldn't have normaly considerd.There are a lot of diverse people here and I belive that is something to be embraced.
I don't know how it would work or how it could be implemented or even if anybody would want it implemented, but just sounding it out. Maybe you could have different categories like best post, funniest post, Most helpful poster, best topic, best blog, poster of the year/thread of the year or even the super troll of the year/ biggest tinfoil hat.....Of the year etc. Nominated and voted for by the community and staff. The winner gets a title or something they hold up to the next set of awards and the adulation or constant flaming of their peers. I know most of us are grumpy old men who really don't give a crap about anything since the NGE came out;) but what do you guys think? Could something like this work? Would anybody like to see it? If so am I going to get a perma ban from the staff for even sugesting it with the extra work they would have to do if anybody agrees with me?
Any opinion just made the last five minutes of time I spent typing this post worthwhile.:)

Not sure about awards, but we do spotlight threads every week as part of our Community Spotlight, and users receive a unique title for being chosen for it.

We're always looking for new ways to celebrate our users and awards are certainly a valid suggestion. I'm not sure I want to go down that particular angle, but I've suggested a number of other initiatives that I hope we can get the ball rolling on in the future.
Since this transaction is taking place on our forums I will have to impose a 1 slice tax on said cake.
