Ok I'm REALLY curious here about what people think of this. If Tera had stayed Lineage 3. And all the crap didn't happen, but Tera came out as the exact same game as it is now (same combat content everything) but under NCSoft instead. Do you think Tera still be as heavly under fired as it is today? Hypothical i know, because if it was than GW2 won't be coming out till even later because its stupid to kill your own bussine but just wondering. Does anything if Tera was L3 and under NCSoft it won't recieve nearly as much of this flame?

Preety sure you mean arena.net and not NCsoft.
Either way, it's not the developer that matters, it's game content and mechanics.
If this was L3 I really doubt the recepetion would be better I think it would be much worse. I'm not seeing much in Tera that makes me think of Lineage.

NCSoft owns arena.net so they have every power to delay or rush GW2 time to not collide with Tera/L3.
Also well doesn't have to be as L3 but just curious if Tera was under NCSoft.
If it's a great mmo I play it. I don't care what company makes the mmo. They all could end up either a hit or a disaster, some more than others.

EME on the other hand does a great deal more for TERA and there would be a big difference if they weren't the publisher.
Just not worth my time anymore.
TERA is heavily under fire?
Welcome to the Tera thread.
You reaqlize tera =/= lineage 3 right?
NCsoft is making lineage 3.

I think we would know if TERA was "heavily under fire" because crap splatters! j/k
I didn't think TERA was suffering a lot of bad press. It's a gorgeous game, with a standard game progression and more active combat mechanics. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I've heard alot of people talk about how they like it.
Agreed. If anything all I hear is how people like the new take on combat. Sometimes people complain about the questing and the animation lock, but overall it looks like people pretty much like the game.
To like TERA, you're going to have to like Aion, Lineage II, and other games of that ilk. Of course, TERA is probably the better of the three major Korean MMORPGs that have been ported over to the US, at least in terms of localization, so I think TERA will attract more than just fans of Korean grinders.
For some reason I read this with a drunken slur....anyone else?

I haven't seen a ton of negativity towards TERA to be honest (at least not in the US). The game is what it is, and enough people seem to enjoy that. There are like 1 or 2 negative reviews I've seen, but there are also a few positives. I really don't get where some people are seeing these 'attacks' on the game from.
Just not worth my time anymore.
ArenaNet is only partially owned by NCsoft, not entirely and NCSoft does not have executive power to decide on when their games are released, they have an influence in the decision but the truth is NCSoft has pushed for GW2 to be released since 2010, and ArenaNet has been well past their "due date" with that game ever since, and it's still not out :P.
And if TERA was done by NCsoft it would be L3, and it would probably be about the same thing, or very similar to what it is now. TERA is a step up from the typical "grindy mcgrinderson" of asian games, but it's still profoundly boring compared to new games such as SW:TOR and GW2, or any other new MMO in the next couple of years since the genre is finally moving in the direction of the games giving the players a sense of purpose, finally.
Just not worth my time anymore.

Past [MMO] Games: Lineage 2 (quit c5), Aion, RIFT, SWTOR

2hrs of sleep been up all night studying for bio lab pratical o.-
Can't say anything about GW2 coz its not even out but man that made my day about swtor.
Also:
"ArenaNet, located in Bellevue, Washington, is a wholly owned subsidiary of NCsoft® Corporation"

So ya wholly owned....
For those living under a rock:
A few employess left NCSoft after plans for Lineage III got scrapped. They used what they had about Lineage 3 and made TERA. TERA became a huge success in Korea, and NCSoft realized it was based on their proprietary information (even though they had scrapped the project) and were intent on collecting. They sued and won last week in Korean Supreme court. 53 million US dollars (60 billion Korean Won) from each of the employees that had left the company. The Korean supreme court, however, stated that the gaming company in charge of TERA had absolutely no liability because they were not in the know of what those employees did.
In short, TERA is off the hook for the mistakes of former NCSoft employees.
If NCSoft had followed through with Lineage III, let it be known that I would have not even given it a passing glance. Lineage 2 was a gank fest and with the huge amount of PvP lovers that NCSoft caters to, I am sure Lineage 3 would have been the same. Reason? PvP players get their kicks off the misery of others. They get a thrill of victory that they just can't equal with the kill of an NPC. Meh... let me not turn this post into a PvP hate rant.
I actually strongly dislike destroying someone in PvP. I prefer even and close matches. I actually feel bad when I own someone, and I don't PK newbies. Not everyone is like that, but those people do exist that thrive on griefing.
First the game launch would'nt have been rushed last year.
Bluehole rushed the launch because of NCSoft and committed suicide: it was a disaster the game was incomplete and they knew it.
Probably the KTera would have been launched in late 2011 just before Swtor leaving Gw2 for the second half of 2012.
Designwise i think the game would have been more focused on owpvp and sieges and less on pve farming.
Advertisement and hype would have been better and bigger.
But bigger hype means bigger flaming so a Ncsoft Tera would be even more "heavily under fire as it is today"
NCsoft is already making Blade & Soul, which looks quite interesting. It also follows the same themepark approach that Tera does. Lineage 2, at least the first chapters, were more sandbox based and more free than even the Lineage 2 version of today (and definitely more sandbox based than Aion).
I can't really speculate on the state of Tera under NCsoft, because NCsoft is both a good publisher and developer. The only real difference I would see implemented would be a more prevailing cash shop. NCsoft has already shifted all their games into that model, including the newest GW2.
First of all Ncsoft dont makeany KOR game they just publish theyr games ,and sadly kor game dont shine in NA they last for a year and maybe and a half and then become free .

Aion NCsoft (Team Aion) MMO Active since 2009.
