So I stumbled accross this thread wich features this video.
The video shows a max level battleground fight in K-Tera. The uploader gives a rundown of the situation, "Gear is part of it, yes. But for? instance I have 23% dmg reduction in the gear I'm in and 13% bonus dmg. They're in tier 13 +12 weapons while we were all only tier 12. However, Mystic + Priest buffs AND crit scrolls, cd reduction pots and pvp dmg (or dmg reduction) pots with all those buffs is just insane."
While the opposing team is obviously more skilled then the uploaders team, it still demonstrates the incridible difference between buffed players and unbuffed players. The uploader is hitting for 5-10k while the opposing team is hitting for 50-70k and one shotting people left and right.
Does anyone have any more info on this? Is endgame pvp going to be not only gear based (which I already knew) but also incredibly buff based? Or are they changing it for the NA/UK release?

so apparently there are debuffs as well. leand from what ive read, there is a huge difference in tiers of gear, even while leveling. it all contributes. we'll see how it plays out
this also seems that you 'need' certain classes to be successful, not crazy about that tbh
so if you play in a team without healers and without potions then you fail.
Sounds like most arenas.
I bet if you have a team who doesn't use armor or weapons it's like most arenas too.
Lol ya -.- its not imbalance because the other side didn't bother to be fully prepared.
Its inbalance if gears are the same but other class just steam rolls people than thats inbalance. Not spending the time to get geared and going in w/o the right team comp isn't inbalance its call beening stupid -.-
And as Grimm stated its not hard to get these gears, every dungeon run drops liek 3-4 gold on the last boss, with NA new enchanting system its even easier to get +12 and get the stats you desire on them.
The main issue here wasn't the gear imbalance, the uploader said they had tier 12 gear and the other team had tier 13...the issue is how huge of an effect the buffs have on the outcome of PvP. The other team is doing 300%+ more damage then the uploaders team and one shotting them while they are the same level and have similar tier gear.
I mean sure I expect buffs to give advantages, but I don't expect them to pre determine the winner of battles.
Idk I guess it's just annoying to me that Tera has this awesome combat system that really rewards player skill yet they feel the need to make the game so gear based and now based on this video also incredibly buff based. I mean I expect people who have better gear and buffs to have an advantage but this is just crazy.
Thats because T12 gears are better than T13 because from what i heard you can't go past +6 on T13 gears and they are only slightly better in base. Also ofc buff going to matter, but everyone have buffs, if you decide to play unbuff its same thing as playing under geared. The advantage will always be there because if it isn't than PvE has no point. However its not really that hard to get to that point or obtain those things so if you don't feel like spending the extra 2 mins to get your buffs thats really your fault for not using whats give to you.
Well Tera was not meant to be a game balanced to PVP. It's a pve game.
Of course it has big gear imbalance.
The devs (Bluehole) have already said that they are working on gear-related balance issues for PvP. The changes should come out at the same time as the new battlegrounds in Korea.

As of right now T13 gear that drops from hardmode dungeons cannot be enchanted only T13 crafted items can be enchanted. I would expect new enchantable T13 to be added with part 2 of the expansion.
T12 gear is / was good because it had crazy good stat's on them but its no where near as good as T13 due to its base stat.
As far as BGs go, there is far more mechanics at work than just gear that can make a match unbalanced. Hence the reason BHS is reworking them.

Still i think it was pretty amazing they had the gut to publicly admit they fucked up big time on the battleground and took it out to fix it rather than leave it there to be abused.
Yes, K-Tera was already pretty good, but with En Masse's changes W-Tera has become amazing. They even changed the starting Area!
I'll just go up and tell you that World PvP is never designed to be balanced, also the classes themselves are not balanced 1vs1. What makes World PvP fun in Tera compared to other MMOs is that you have to earn your kills. In most MMOs if you get 2-shotted it was because you got CCed and he blew all his win buttons and you died, that's not even remotely close to how Tera's combat works. The OP even acknowledged that the PvP geared players were actually more skilled then they were, even though they had better gear as well, this is a huge contrast to your typical MMOs where bad players magically are able to get their hands on quality PvP gear, and turn around and kill good players with it.
Anyways, as mentioned before the real concern for PvP balance will come from 5v5 and 10vs10 Battlegrounds, and said rewards which En Masse is currently working on trying to fix. Hopefully they will have a match making system in place, and eliminate solo queuing so that afkers can't pug the BGs for rewards.
