Hello community,
I am looking for an RPG/MMORPG that offers dungeon crawling. Better yet, i am looking for a game that offers to generate a random dungeon each time.
To some degree games Diablo offers randomization. I have played Din's Curse, you should play it if you haven't. The game is great. Basically you start in a small town with NPC and go down in a dungeon and almost everythign is generated: Quests, randomized mods, randomized dungeons. It just picks up from one of many templates "sewer, crystal cave, abyss, etc.. u get the ideea" and from there on you get limitless replayability. It also has multiplayer, that's the best part. Games are much more fun when you play them with a friend.
With recent games like Legends of Grimrock my appetite for such games has really gone to max, so i would wish you guys could recommend me a good one that i can play with a firend. Dosen't matter if it's top-down view, 3rd person or 1st person..just somethign to keep us coming back for more.
I remember neverwinter nights has such a feature, doesn't it... By now i'm sure you know what I'm looking for. Also, if you want to play with me and my friend a game, just leave me a PM.
Thanks for reading!

Bumpy bumpy.. Someone, anyone?
Path of Exiles
Depends what you want from a Dungeon Crawl, tricky stuff or a slaughterfest...
For me the best "Dungeon Crawling" experiences I've ever had in any game would be DDO, each class brings something & some of the traps & puzzles are just not surpassed by any other game, it's a unique game in that respect.
For a slaughterfest I'd probably say WoW still holds the crown.
EQ2 has some imaginitive stuff as does Rift when it comes to dungeon design.
Hey, you should check out Conqueror of All Worlds. It's a 3D Dungeon Crawler with randomly generated maps and is actually a lot like Torchlight. It has all the standards from randomly generated loot to dungeons and also has a rather unique ally system that gives you two NPC companions. Don't worry about it being on Cartoon Network, because it's definitely not a bad game.
The best thing of all is that it's a fully featured 3D game and available completely free, with no option to pay for anything even if you wanted to.
Check it out here - http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/games/level-up/conqueror-of-all-worlds/index.html?atclk_gp=gp_thumbnailCardNo1
I'm very curious on how Path of Exile will turn out to be, still wondering if i should donate for the beta...
I'm very interested in Torchlight 2, since it will offer coop.
I've always wanted to try out DDO, you gave me a good reason, never knew it had puzzles.
Ultimately, I've never heard about Conqueror of All Worlds, but just checked a youtube gameplay video and it seems fun.
Thank you all..
Is any of you familiar with ultima underworld, might and magic, meridian 59? I would love to find a game like meridian59, only with updated graphics. Good PvP, first person and even though it wasn't a dungeon crawler it was just how i would picture a classic dungeon crawler in multiplayer. It needs to have that feel to it of being immersive while still being pretty tight.. kind of like Arx Fatalis. This game wanted to be Ultima Underworld III, but they couldn't get license rights.. Just imagine this in multiplayer... Roasted rat shared with your fellow dungeon crawlers yuuummy )
Oh and yeah, I'm pretty found of 1st person in MMOs for some reason, but everything that keeps delivering it's just as good!
Keep 'em coming!
Dungeon runners oh how i miss that game
Path of Exile is a really good one that's in closed beta right now.
Torchlight is a good one, but you have to pay a flat rate of like $20 to buy the game. It's really worth the money.
Fate and Fate:Undiscovered Realms are two other really good ones. But again, like torchlight, you ahve to pay a flat one time fee and then it's all good.
Yup, keeping a close eye on PoE and also can't wait for Torchlight 2. I remember playing Fate a few years ago, it was fun. I just wish it would have featured a coop mode.
Regards!
R.I.P Wish they'd just bring this game back...
To the OP, I'm not sure if Titan Quest has been suggested yet, but that game offers a lot. The dungeons aren't random, but the sheer size of the game and the amount of class combos you can pick from lead to pretty much endless possibilities. I don't think I ever even made it past the Orient because I kept starting over trying new builds.. Aside from that, you have Torchlight, the Fate series, Mythos (if that game's still around), and if you're desperate, Sacred 1&2.
Yes I have a dream And its not some MLK dream for equality. I wanna own a decommissioned lighthouse And I wanna live at the top And nobody knows I live there. And theres a button that I can press, and launch that lighthouse into space.
Yep, mythos is a good one. It's run by T3Fun now. http://mythos.t3fun.com/home/home.aspx
For a slaughterfest I'd probably say WoW still holds the crown.
that's an mmorpg not a dungeon crawler
Cheers! Titan Quest is a lot of fun, and not a bad looking game, even by today's standards.
I like the build system in TQ, and the styling is pretty good.
BUT...... It lacks the combat impact of diablo and torchlight with there been no blood and not much in the way of knocking about mobs
Its not as fun on the second run through as diablo or torchlight, because it doesn't randomise the map layouts / mob and non quest boss locations.
Legend of Grimrock is a awesome old school dungeon crawler but I don't think it is what you are looking for.
Have you tried dark messiah of might and magic? seems to fit your bill for a single player rpg for the most part
To the mmorpg list(if you don't mind its age) I'll add anarchy online
I played Titans Quest and enjoyed it. If I am not mistaken, a part of the developers that worked on Diablo also developed TQ.
Regarding Legends of Grimrock, I still have it installed and I play it every 2-3 days, completing another dungeon...
Dark Messiah was a blast when it came out. The guys that worked on what i might call my favourite RPG, Arx Fatalis, also worked on Dark Messiah. The game was great and suited for all audiences. It had some RPG elements in it, but it's core gameplay was that of an action game. The thing with it was that the multiplayer part was crap, or at least not what i expected it to be... I would rather play some fun-time source mod, like Pirates, Vikings and Knights 2(google/search steam for PVK2 and download it).
I remember i always wanted to try out Anarchy Online, years passed and dunno what really happend. Lets just go over some gameplay videos and see if it steers up my interest.
Thanks for all your suggestions!
Does anyone remember a dungeon-crawler-esque game that had a champion setup like LoL? You bought a champion/character and then entered a lobby with other players to go through a dungeon?
Dungeon Master?
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
If I remember a different company made the multiplayer/online part of dark messiah
http://www.devilwhiskey.com/# I did come accross this one on gamersgate, not sure I'm willing to pay 20 quid for it though
I kind of remember the same thing...That explains it
Good find on the other game. After searching a little bit, I was able to find a lot of games that are pretty much dungeon crawlers. For all of you that are interested, check out indiedb.com and go ahead and scroll through some 10 pages, you will find plenty of games that might interest you.
I think i know which one you mean yet the name eludes me >_<
I wish I could remember >< I played the closed beta for it, but it had so many problems I just never thought about it again.
