2nd LF game: Sandbox/Open world/possibilities MMORPG

veteranuveteranu Member Posts: 18

Hey there,

My second topic.. I am also looking for an MMORPG in the spirit of Mortal Online/Darkfall.

I have played the ones mentioned above and also tried out Vanguard and I'm eager for it to launch as F2P since population is pretty low. So while i don't mind MMOs that have theampark elements, i just don't like it when the whole game is aminly based upon doing quests. For me, th egame has to offer you a certain freedom, go where you want, do what you like> You like harvesting/crafting..do that.. etc

It's also important for it to be a little competitive, I'm not a hardcore PvP player myslef, but i do like it when i  go with my clan/guild and storm another city/stronghold. You pretty much get the ideea, something that's big, has nice PvP and siege system, just look at Darkfall. So while I am waiting for Darkfall 2.0 and Vanguard going F2P please suggest me something, I will be sure to check it out..

Also, if you would like to play with me/recruit me (lol) don't hesitate to send me a PM. It's all about gamers interaction ..hehehe

Best,

Me

Mo and DF are my fave. But I also can recommend Xsyon for about a month if you want to do that. The crafting and gathering and setting up a camp is very fun. You may like it for more than a month if you find a tribe to join though.

How does Xsyon compare to Wurm Online?

    Thanks and keep suggestions coming!

Wurm is not a game you pick up right away and 'get' right off the bat. It has many cool features that you learn over time. Such as in combat if your leg gets wounded and is at 64% your movement speed is hindered until you specifically bandage that leg( or your head with eyesight, where the screen gets more blurry). Wurms graphics out of the gate are old. In addition you have scattered wildlife And corpses laying around lots of places that make it seem unrealistic. On the other hand if you find a guild very early and stick with it..Wurm has more depth and potential staying power.

Xsyon you can jump into it and 'get it' within a day or 2. Combat is pretty shallow though and it's just click to attack and block. The graphics in xsyon are the best you will find for a game with terraforming. The resource, camp building, and crafting is its strongest points and will keep you very entertained for a month or 2. There are seasons where snow will compile on the ground more in some places and it's cool to see the snow melt as spring hits.

So if you just want to have fun for a month or 2 and see how cool the resource, crafting, etc can be Xsyon is the way to go. In Wurm if you can find a guild, get past the graphics, and make a longer term commitment to the game, you will discover very cool things about Wurm also.

Oh ..one more thing. When you create your character in xsyon pick up basket weaving so you have someplace to put those resources.
If you plan on going the Wurm route find a guild right away, and stomach it through the tutorial and the starting area and find you're guild territory ASAP.

Thanks for your in-depth and quick response XDayX.

I have played Wurm some 2 years ago, just for a lil bit, finished the tutorial and found my way to the "free" zone..No much else to tell, only teamed-up with another guy and started chopping woods :))

I also played a little Fallen Earth, that i would class it as something along the like of a "sandboxy theampark", just like vanguard. The world is huge in both, you can pretty much go where-ever you want and in the case of Fallen Earth, i know they are releasing new zones/areas and i think there's one specifically for clan/guild wars, where they fight over territories and such, domination style...

Reading your perspective regarding Xsyon, I'll definetly try it out after the weekend passes, since now i wanna get my hands on the open betas for Diablo and TERA.

P.S. Is Tindrem open yet? and what about "The Awakening" when will it go live?

    P.P.S. Do you use skype?
