Failure due to expectations ?

MephsterMephster Member Posts: 1,188

And rightfully so... Diablo is a great franchise and anything less from this franchise will be considered a failure. Since they announce the game everyone has been expecting greatness from ths game and as I said rightfully so. The first 2 games were great despite its flaws but now something has happened. Since open beta has been released there has been nothing but disappointment spewing out on the forums. I'm suprised really but then again I'm not. It seems like the general census is that they took D2 and combined it with WoW ideas. I'm not quite sure that is a recipe for success. I'm sure the game will sell a few million but I believe that is only because of the name it has on the box. I guess alot of people could wish for D2 with 2012 graphics ? I don't know, I am kind of suprised at all the negativity but then again don't say people didn't warn you.

Grim Dawn, the next great action rpg!

I can't help but feel bad for developers like Blizzard, Arenanet, and other companies that develop big followings with their games. Their community (the less than 2% who use the forums) see a new game coming and fantasize about all the great new things that will come with it, but ultimately all they really want is a rehash of the same game but with new graphics, but god forbid that the company does put in similarities to the old game because then they are taking the lazy route and grabbing for cash.

It is dealing with a community that doesn't know what it wants, doesn't know what it likes, reacts violently to the smallest pin drop, but is ultimately satisfied with more than they will admit because no doubt the grand majority of Diablo 2 players (sans those with ancient computers) will buy Diablo 3 and likewise with Guild Wars 2 in regards to Guild Wars, and Blizzard will ride the #1 sales charts forever to come.

I'm guilty of expectations for a blizzard game

D3 beta seems to be some mix of D2 and WOW, for the worse

take the blizzard name off the game,

its ok game but I wouldnt spend 60.00 based on this beta preview

Who are even these people that are making Diablo3? Are they just some random dudes? No wonder Diablo 3 looks like belong in 2000 gameplay wise.

It is what it is and not quite what it use to be but it will still make a nice secondary "go to" game behind GW2 or any other mmo as long as they dont delete your frickin account every 90 days like they did with d2..

    Playing GW2..

Maybe a bit. Also maybe it's just tad too streamlined from originals.

Played it today and decided to support Path of Exile and buy Torchlight 2 instead.

The D3 felt for me too much like WOW with the undead minions.

Atleast I thought the company with billion profit per year would be able to make like Lineage Eternal.

The game is more simplistic than WOW.

    I guess that says all.

The argument of someone with nothing intelligent to add to the conversation.
