To much censoring - pegi12 -Frogster Bad rep
In my entire MMO lifespan from Daoc and evrything after that,
Tera has been the only MMO I have seen that went great lenghts to censor its own game.
From elin panties to shorts, from niple censorship to Blood/gore effects,
even to great lenghts to close down Dungeons to edit/remove gore elements out of the game.
Also guild emblems got turnend off because a few people found it funny to upload some nasty pictures.
Now what I dont get is when do 12 year old kids play MMO's that have a creditcard or go to a MMO convention.
I know in WoW there are a few parents that let there kids play fully knowing what content this game has, but this is so minor that I dont understand the idea of making a MMO a pegi 12 rating.
Also Frogster seemend to have given false advertisment to get the game sold, then sudenly change the content in it.
I doubt common folk will sue them, so I asume most will vote with there wallet.
Its a shame realy, I looked forward to this game for a while, but all this censoring, and seeing alot of "lemming" fans defending this game like its the holy christ then I rather avoid it and cancel my pre-order now.
Lets not hope future MMO's go trough this ordeal, and that community is paramount to a succes of a MMO,
Not by screwing/lying them over.
With that said, I would like to say to the people that decide to stay and play this game is.
Have fun, dont let my opinion decide your path, im sure tera is and will be a good game.
But for me, and im sure many others it crossed the line way to much.
And to Frogster, you have alot to learn.

It's just because frogster is from Germany and they censor everything there. Bad choise for publisher, kinda feel pity for Tera EU, who knows what happens when they go all out on censorship and whatnot silly ideas they might come up with. Though I heard someone saying in beta that it's very little stuff frogster get to affect in game but only time will tell.
not a fan of the censorship in NA either... they should've made it an option...
default to censorship for all players, but unlockable if you can prove your age
Today Raven posted on official board, finally answering some of pressing matters, he wrote that the blood problem is being discussed again and they are trying to come up with a solution.
I know, they shouldn't have choose pegi 12, but let's give them the time to resole the mess before start raging.
For me the removal of blood is not a big problem, I can live without it, i was just preoccupied about further censorship but they said they are not going to touch the istances.
About the elins im sorry but i can't care less if they changed some panties with shorts, i'm not offended by elin but i'm not a fan of them either. They are just bad taste in my book.
The niples censorship is pure fantasy, the nipples were visible in kTera beta and they have been removed since then even from the korean client.
About the guild eblems, they had to remove them since there were legal problems with some of the images pepole used, if some players are too stupid to be allowed in public is not Frogster fault.
Again I'm not a Frogster supporter and if not for the ping i will preorder from En Masse, but let's not exaggerate the problem.
Simple solution everyone move to NA server =D
I see blood all the time at work. I see red graphics on my screen depicting blood coming from cartoons on my computer monitor too. But unlike work in real life I have never had to get hep c or hiv tested from some graphics in a game.
Game blood is not blood. It's just the color red. Is the color red really that traumatizing.
Next thing you know people will be claiming post traumatic stress after a monster jumps out at them on a screen. I can just imagine the patient in the pschiatrist office, "And then a two headed monster with bile dripping out of it's maw jumped out and grabbed me with 9 inch talons and killed me...I DIED.....Oh my GAWD I DIED!!!!"
NA's censorship has nothing to do with age. It has to do with westerner been insecure about Elins in the game, and enough of them are insecure about it that it would heavly effect their sale and subs if they didn't do something about it.
If you do see issue with Elin your have issues you might want to adress.
If you think Elin is an age group issue your naive. I'm talking specificly about Elins here, not the blood. And honestly fake blood an issue? Kids under 12 seen movies and TV shows show hell lot more of "real blood" yet no one have issue with those suddenly fake animation blood is a big deal? what a joke.
I grew up watching Ken Shiro blowing people heads up all the time and I yet have to kill someone.

Does that mean Frogster is not guilty? No.
Does that mean Frogster tried to betray the players to get twelve year old kids into the game? Lol, No.
It just means Frogster is a little bit incompetent :-)
